LOL. I'm guessing the dog is probably somewhere around 15-25 lbs. That is definitely too big to be a purebred patty, but definitely a dog that can work :)

yeah can.. only down side is u cant put him in every hole lol.. he will suffocate. cut his own air.

but yeah i entered my patt to a hole last weekend and i think a 25lb patt can get there too.. my patt is 9kg.

9 kilos is roughly 20 lbs. or so. That is huge for a patt. Largest patts I've seen were 14-15 lbs, or 7 kilos.

i wouldnt say HUGE, just on the large side... u wouldnt want any bigger then 9kg though. and he is spanable.

his size is typical for his bloodline, ken gould /old nuttal/wheeler.

That dogs not going to be working the ground at that size. It would be a danger to the animal to send him into a hole as anyone that has go to ground animals surely knows.

i think it also depends on where u hunt and what u hunt. where i hunt a dog thats even 11 kg can fit to the holes around where i hunt but if go to the other side of the state no way ... also in europe their dens are bigger and some hunt badgers so holes are bigger.

look at the size of these patts in the link below

Badass little lightweight you've got there. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I've got a JRT X Bull Terrier bitch that I like a lot. Some of the Bull X Terrier crosses can be delightfully gritty and a fun size to work. Not meaning to Hijack your thread, just thought I'd share.

When have you seen a wheaten in the ground? maybe as a draw dog at the mouth of the den but further than that I don't think so.

I never saw a wheaten doing actual work, but I saw a couple at a few minor earth dog trials. The quarry are protected from the dogs at all times, but the wheaten did ok, nothing exceptional though.

so, you saw a wheaten barking at a rat in a cage

It was an earth dog trial, all quarry are protected from the dogs. It isn't field work, but the dog accomplished it and it was a bit more than just barking at caged quarry  The dog probably is too big to do actual field work since the dog was about 20 lbs., and a dog that size going into the ground in actual field work instead of an earth dog trial has a high chance of suffocating.
