i believe you need an all around regimen...like the standard says too much of one thing takes away from the others...therefore i do miles and miles of handwalking, distance jogs, wind sprints, drag sledding, walks with chain weight, flirt pole, springpole, and swimming when possible...you want an all around athlete at the most efficient weight possible...not so much muscle mass as to detract from speed or agility but you don't want to focus so much on wind or agility that your dog isn't as powerful as possible either...but really you should decide exactly where YOU feel your dog needs improvement and work these aspects until YOU feel as though you have the optimum athlete...jmo hope it helps...:o

  3. So we make handwalk every day and walk with chains and tires on weightpull harness, flirtpole, springpole, tow, sprintpull, swimming, jogging, biking, play with balls and frisbee and give good food to the dogs and then you get results like that

a good pair of shoes...a six foot lead...and your max distance will be a decent workout for him...especially if he pulls you aong....handwalking is about the safest because it is really hard, nearly impossible to hurt the dog....mis-using equipment can be really bad for the dog....if you got one that will pull you down the road a six foot lead and a half-decent harness will get you really close to top notch.....and if he will sprint to fetch a ball, well hell, you will be top notch....US1

It also depends on what kind of event u are conditioning the dog for weight pull ,conformation, etc.I believe in handwalking to start out for a few reasons. One a dog has to empty out before you start.Never work a dog that hasn't emptied out first.I believe in doing things the natural way.Walking, running and riding a bike. I have used swimming with some dogs. Each dog works different and some won't do certain exercises that well.Like a treadmill some will only run a few minutes and stop.I have used treadmills , but I have never used a treadmill as the only way to work a dog.Things that have worked for me is handwalking, sprints with me running next to the dog , sprints with me riding a bike, and I used a treadmill for but only for a couple of minutes.I believe by walking your dog is one of the best things you can do.The most important part is rest in my opinion. You never want to over work a dog. You will find everyone has their own ideas practice different methods and keep notes. Then come up with your own that is workable for you and the animal.Good Luck

A good pair of waterproof runners or hiking boots are a must! I always start and finish with 30 mind of walking!
