Which fighters are more like the game dog, boxers or MMA fighters?

I am a boxing fan and I have always thought boxers are gamer than MMA fighters. No tapping out and sticking in there for better or worse for 12 rounds. A sport were quitting is frowned upon. I always thought boxers have at least a decent chance to win in MMA, but an MMA fighter can never step in the boxing ring and beat a decent boxer. That is why boxers make more $$$ at the elite level and if an MMA fighter can do that he would. Here is video of a shot boxer former world champ fighting and elite former world champ MMA fighter... Boxers have a shot in MMA but not vice versa.

You think Tim Sylvia is at an elite level the time this fight took place? LMAO! That's why Sylvia is not fighting in the UFC anymore, cause he's shot just like Mercer. Both sports dispay gamness not one more then any other. I have fought pro in both sports and I do think Boxing is more brutal then MMA but both are extremely difficult in their own way.

Boxing. Anyone who says differently has never done both sports before and is just a spectator of the two sports or just did one of them. So much stamina involved in boxing... It's not like you can fight on the ground to catch your breathe and such in boxing. But in MMA u can lie down on top of the other guy and take breathers. Happens in mostly all MMA fights.

You gotta be on your feet constantly moving and throwing punches in boxing. And taking hits makes you tired. So you cant just stand still and block punches. You will get tired and the punches hitting you will mess up your breathing and such. Trust me. Boxing>MMA.

You must not of ever done both sports. Boxers will gas while grappling and grapplers will gas while boxing.

I'd say boxing, but I don't agree at all with Jelet's post. It sounds like you've never done either, or.

i have done both sports. That is true, however, I have
have never grappled in my fights but have seen others at the gym do. As my fighting style is to punch and keep my distance because of my long arms. I dont get close or try to grapple.

What % of a MMA fight is on the ground /grabbing each other and such. -- most of the fight

What % of a boxing fight is grappling? - Not much. Most folks at my gym barely did any grappling except for some. And it was no more than 30 seconds per round....

But yes ,my fault, some boxers will grapple to get some air. But the amount of time of that is nothing compared to the mma fighting on the ground and such to get air.

Nah. Sounds like you did neither. As my post is based solely on experience. Not what I have seen on tv and such. And from my experience, at my level of boxing, there is little to no grappling. I seen it in some folks fighting, but the amount of time grappling was not much..

If you have done both sports then you would know how exhausting it is to grapple.

Its all about the gameness in the heart of the individual man. You cant categorize it and say this discipline vs. that discipline. IMO

You are try to say grappling is equivalent to resting which is totally untrue.

Yea it is. But not as exhausting as it is to be on your feet taking punches and throwing them.

Nah. Def not true. You are burning your energy up from grappling with the opponent. But you will burn more energy on your feet punching and taking punches. I never said it was equivalent to resting. But you burn more energy in boxing on your feet then you do on the ground grappling.

I disagree again. Neither burn up more energy then the other. A grappler will burn up more energy standing up fighting because he is not comfortable on his feet and doesnt know how to relax when fighting. The same can be said about the boxer fighting on the ground. He doesnt know how to relax and grapple. If it is true that you do both sports then you are very, very inexperienced.

I did amature boxing as A kid for 6 1/2yrs. I sometimes worked out at the GYM with 2 of my cusins that were state wrestling champs. I did it for the reason that sometimes when boxers clinch they try to wear the opponent out by overpowering them and thats what wrestling is about. If your stamina is not there you will get exhusted and if your upper body is not in top shape you will be worne down and you wont react to blocking punches as you normaly would do.

They are both combat sports. Gameness can be proven in either. You cant ride the coattails of another man. If a boxer has proven his gameness and a different MMA fighter has proven his gameness, doesnt mean you can affiliate yourself with being game just because you participate in or watch that sport.

There are plenty of MMA fighters who will do whatever it takes to not go on the ground some are just stand up guys like Chuck Liddell uses his wrestling to stay on his feet or are like Anderson Silva who is a BBJ black belt but would rather stand and only uses that if you get him on his back. I would think it would be just as taxing to wrestle and control someone elses body as it would be to hit and get hit in boxing

I no longer do either sport. But from my past experience I would get more tired in boxing than in MMA fights and thus makes it more difficult.

I did boxing for 3 years during highschool. And I admit, I only did MMA at the gym for 8-9 months and had no "official matches" All I did was spar other kids in my weight class at the gym. But I believe I have had enough spars to give me my opinion. My boxing matches were way harder than my MMA spars. Even my boxing spars at the gym were harder than my MMA spars. Both rough and demanding fights. But boxing is the hardest and takes the most out of me. And I found MMA spars easier than boxing spars because I can go on the ground and it makes it easier.

    Boxing grumbling = very little

    mma grumbling= lots of it.

    grumbling<boxing/fighting on 2 legs...

Those people are the minority of the sport and are the exception to the rule. Most MMA fights end up on the ground. Not 1on1 standing on two legs, for most of the time.

Theres a few mma fighters that can box like minotauros lil brother lil dog nogueira, he is a national boxing champ, vitor belfort has better hands then most boxers, nick diaz will hang with some of the best boxers too. I think both sports are game but mma takes it a step further. Imo

completely rearded posts by jelet lol.... and obviously you have verry little grappling experience... boxers can fight for 36-45 minutes trained the longest mma fights are 25 minutes... why because mma is more strenuous... now lets think here does it consume more energy to move your arms with no resistance or to move your Whole Body while someone else is trying to throw you around.
