Talk about an obsession - I have it - but you know I am getting a chance to try so many foods see how they smell and look .Analyze the ingredients and guys it’s all about the same look the poodle is eating Purina select very happily in a found food dispenser.
I found a bag of blue buffalo

lol i wouldnt give any of that stuff to my dog even if its free. In fact, I have got similar gifts to the products in the pic for my dog and just chucked it in the woods or trash.

But are all of these from a pet store dumpster?

And I feel the same way. At my job(home depot) we throw out A LOT of good stuff!!! I notice this because I do mark downs and throw it away myself. Like we threw out 3 good usable tape measures and lots of valuable red mulch with a hole in it. Or some tiles or bricks . And some pvc pipes... with a small dent or two on them...

I realize when it comes to dog food we got bottom of list and the skies the limit
I have seen dogs on gravy train look good ,these foods code dates are at the end that’s basically it and yes all from dumpster I seem to Dive Dumpsters for dog food but I guess if Home depot Lowes Wal-Mart Target had open cans you know what’s in there . My friend says the prices we pay for our goods cover theft and damage or returns that can’t be sold. in a way since many of us shop the stores mentioned the garbage is really ours for the taking since we are already paying extra for items to cover items deemed not to be resold If stores would stop wasting maybe prices could go down .
I found a $40 bag blue Buffalo and a $15 Kong toy 2 years worth of meat basted raw hide bones must be $100, As long as I can I will continue and I am giving some to the animal rescue since she does it by sponsorship I will put this food to good use , If there was a pit bull rescue I’d give them some but none by me . If I came up with a plan and could find all the needy dogs and cats that need sponsorship who knows these pet shops might put all this stuff aside

lol nice man. And pet shop managers wont ever do this because if he/she gives it out free to shelters, animal lovers have an incentive to damage products so they can get them free. As much as it sucks their reasoning is right, you know plenty of people would take a knife in the back room and be like, "ooops... opened product, guess I'll have to take it.:dogkiss:" Shame it all ends up in the trash though. And, i'd only give it to shelters that auto kill pitbulls or not much pit bulls in them. they r better off dead then in the hands of clueless owners. wouldnt worry about donating them to "pit rescues" cause imo, they are our enemy. (the majority)

True people could purposely damage , Some PB rescue must be ok, I mean I found regular dog rescue people general don’t like a PB but PB rescue know the dog type don’t you think

This might sound like I am being a little hoity toity but oh well.

I can afford to purchase my animals all the feed they need and anything else they could ever need, If I had to resort to scavenging dumpsters to feed my animals even if it was good brand food that was unopened...I would give my animals to someone who could take care of them.

And as far as going through dumpsters to feed myself...I don't think so. I never was one for buying used clothes or shoes, Eating leftovers, Scavenging dumpsters or fields, Looking for the cheapest way to do something, Buying house brand items in the grocery stores and things of that nature. I have my brands I like and it always has to be fresh, My wife hates the fact that if I buy a package of lunch meat or that that if it isn't eaten within 2 days after it is opened it is thrown out. And she hates the fact that I always throw out whatever is left of food after dinner and such, But it is a good way to bring a good dose of food poisoning in my opinion.

And to me people who go diving through dumpsters for food and such have a little bit of a screw loose, It is one thing if your starving and homeless but if people are just going around digging through dumpsters looking for something to eat...In my opinion they need a new hobby and preferably one that can pay them a living wage so they can eat decent food.

yes MOST of it is perfectly fine! i work at petco and everyday that i empty the trash i count the 40 lb bags with little rips in them that go out to the trash. but be sure to inspect the food, i guess my work used to donate the damaged bags to the rescues and one cat got sick because moisture got to the food and it formed mildew, so they sued the company and now we just toss it. i was thinking about going there at night and snatchin some, but with my luck id be on camera and fired cuz believe it or not ITS ILLEGAL to take from theyre dumpsters. yep CA still considers it stealing.

I believe your more correct then me, your way can help to make a person strive for excellence our society wants us to have. But yes there is the other people, I seem to be DD for dog food (not human) and all the food in my house is used even if it finds its way to out in the field for the birds raccoons that’s my may, but look I have kids a house cars I’m living life, for now this is my discovery and I’m going with it. I am not the only one doing this

Thanks for the tip I’ll have to inspect and explain to who ever takes items from me the inherent moisture issue I hope not for jail of course LOL

Well it never was to make a person strive for excellence or that it was just that I never wanted to run the risk of illness.

America is the worlds most WASTEFUL country....Grocery stores throw away so much food a year enough food to feed all the people in Ethiopia LOL...Instead of donating the food to shelters ect...they throw it away because they would rather waste it then donate it if they cant make money on it. Pet stores are no different its all about profit and money. Food can usually last a week past the expiration date as long as its properly stored meaning it has to be cool in the fridge or freezer....The problem with getting food from the dumbster is you dont know how long that food been in there as once its thawed out and only after an hour it can spoil..but if you can get it just when they throw it in the dumbster its still good because it will be cold but once it thaws out and gets warm and hot thats when its starts to spoil. If they donate all there soon to be expired food to the shelters no one in america would go hungry.

also take into account that, alot of cheaper brands and even a few better brands, will be thrown away simply because kept in the wrong environment can get weevils ect hatching in the bag and poluting the food. they have eggs in about 70% of the bagged foods its a matter of if the environment its contained in.

Never said it was any of my business, I just stated why I wouldn't do it and my reasoning behind it.

Didn't strike a nerve at all since I don't even know who you are, I just always find it annoying when people who were not even addressed in the first place chime in and and have something smart to say.

I stated an opinion on why I wouldn't feed food found in a dumpster and you took it upon yourself to tell me to mind my own business, When you in the first place should have followed your own advice. If you didn't have a problem with feeding food out of the dumpster or that then fine, But state that and leave the smart mouth out of it and keep it on topic.

I remember at 15 I argued to a 15 yr old buddy I am 51 now and my statement argument was why we waste so much food when people are hungry “ we need to feed them” He coldly said well if we do then they just have more kids and you can never cure the problem so we cant help them.
So what’s it really come down to, the have and the have not’s as we all sit by our computer and discuss PB and life we all must be the have people, yup some of us have more then others but we have don’t we!!

I have not had to buy food yet i can't even use the amount of food i have , i can't even keep up with giving people food and store it in the mean time . i had to put a moratorium on my dumpster diving . I will say i like the Blue Buffalo , & found the top grade Purina select OK also. From all the no corn and no wheat kibbles i have used, I now see that corn is no good and my current dogs look better then any of my dogs of the past due to the use of expensive kibbles.I realize i don't feel the price pinch but for some who stay with corn in there food , you need to know the truth, get away from it
