breeding / culling

If more pits were culled we wouldnt have so many headlines.. "PIT BULL ATTACKS 5 YR OLD. CHILD IN CRITICAL CONDITON"... there are a TON of HA pits out there, that nobody wants to bother with or the opposite.. they want to save the damn HA dog.

I do believe in culling for a reason but just due to lack of space is ignorant! If you cant afford to feed them, house them, afford there medicals, and give them time and attention then you dont need to bring another batch of pits into this world, idc how well bred!

 

If people would stop breeding for money and cause you can or to feel cool,there would be less problems.if you dont have SPACE OR homes DONT BREED.IF YOU GOT MAN BITTERS OR DEFECTS THEN CULL.if all you want is box dogs why go online and push your ideals of culling curs.if your pitting them,then handle your own! BOTTOM LINE DO WHAT YOU GOT TO DO.

this isnt some game for amateurs to p**s about with. you should have a breeding program with others, preferable more experienced than your self. with clearly defined aims as to why your making any breeding and the likely consequences. you must have a resonable certainty of the resulting out come , or your just some joker adding to the problem not helping it

 

Ive read 95% of this and its just crazy shit! Its madness! Why would you want to take a HUGE chance on only two pups of the lets just say 8 pup litter and fuck off the rest? Stats say you're more likely to get rid of the better dogs! Why not buy an older, proven dog from a breeding you like? Or two older dogs? Why not try your luck with two pups from a breeding you like? Why not just breed mice?

 

My suggestion to the OP is "If I were in your situation, I wouldn't breed PERIOD......" Simple as that. Good dogs are easy to come by IF you are serious and deal with serious people. Breeding apbt is not for everyone and every situation. Excellent post btw quinny.

 

the bitch will be fine, but you shouldn't breed if you do not have room for the pups. That is my opinion on the matter. Anybody can do whatever they like, this is America. But it is a waste of a breeding and hard on your bitch just for a pup or two. Better off just saving your money to get you two pups from somewhere else and saving your bitch the trouble of carrying and giving birth.

 

I'm now curious as to why you think his dog is worthy of reproducing! I mean you say you are an amateur and you've never bred before. So you are green!
We where all green once! Maybe not such a big deal! But from your posts I seriously have some concerns!
Do you own a dog thats been handed to you by a experienced Fancier that has PROVEN itself a Bulldog or do you just love your pet so much and think the world needs more just like it?
Whats the breeding behind your dog? Got a ped? if you do post it! I am very curious as to why?

goodness I cannot even comprehend how some of you folks approach matters when it comes to these game dogs it's like you forget you are dealing with an animal not a robot. You want to take away lives before they even begins their lives it just does not piece together at all.

 

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ROOM YOU DO NOT BREED PERIOD. these dogs belong in the country with lots of space. amd if you do not live in the country then do not breed dogs because you do not have the proper set up. you do not go hunting in the city do you no because that aint the right place just like having bulldogs in an area like that is retarted

 

i think this may have been taken the wrong way from the start, and the fact that bdub hasnt reacted for awhile, could be a sign of it. it seemed to be a few simple questions that were thrown into a small space for answers.

one thing that i am finding hard to read is the fact alot of people from what i have read before in some way are going back on their own words? but i may be wrong.

If i was in the position where i got a full litter of pups on the ground i would be keeping or culling the lot besides the good ones. to find the goodones will take time minimum two years maybee longer for some.

to tell him to rehome the "unwanted" pups is realy a poor solution to a massive problem, there are too many of these dogs out there these days owned by idiots and we realy need less of them out there. there are that many poorly bred poorly brought up apbt out there today that contributing another four or five would be very irresponsible and stupid.

to bdub, i think your first mistake was to ask such a question on this forum, i can fully see the want to get the answers to the most important questions as quick as you can but breeding these dogs should be taken more serious than any other type of dog. i have never bred my Apbts ever, and more for the fact that i never came across a decent enough dog in my eyes to breed with any of my own[not just the quality of the dog, but if your outsoursing the stud or the bitch the dick who owns the dog is more important than the dog itself sometimes] and i dont plan on it until i find the perfect combo.sure they are a little harder to come accros over here but that shouldnt change my standard just because they are harder to find.

first of all you should be doing some research on what to expect and how to get prepared for the breeding before it even starts. ask what books you can get a hold of that would be helpfull and do some studying on genetics and how they work, read them and then ask on here for the gaps to be filled. books are the very best because you can allways, walk into your lounge rooom and rehash what you have read over and over[and no one is gonna burn you for it!]
once you are really happy with what you know then ask away on here as your new knowledge will help you understand what your answers will be.

note:just to make it clear you should never get a litter on the ground and cullem just because you cant handle the numbers, if you cant handle the numbers you shouldnt be locking them dogs togetther in the first place.

ive actually been sitting here getting a kick out of this the whole time,ive been bored and figured i would try to stir sh*t up,i get a kick out of it,being a sh*t stirrer.on the serious note i have no plans to breed,only have one dog and he's not even old enough to do to much with. problem is,i get bored with alot and getting something going online makes me laugh.this was all it was.me trying to get a laugh.

The question isn't wether its right or not.The question is,if this idiot should even be breeding his dogs.And the answer is NO,if you need to come on an on line forum for breeding advice,you don't need to be breeding.If you need come on an online forum and ask a question as stupid as this,you don't need to be breeding.I highly doubt his dogs are proven to the point they deserve to be bred,or he wouldn't be on line asking stupid fucking questions.You need to cull them two shiteaters in you back yard and get out of the dogs thats my opinion.
