I would be hesistant to use mineral oil. I may be wrong, but if they aspirate it (if it gets in their lungs), it may cause severe problems.

    I did.

Congrats on the good news hope he continues to get better!

& just as an FYI for everyone, my dog didn't have access to anything either. He ate the item that caused the blockage 6 months ago and it sat in his stomach the entire time. We were prepared for a blockage then but he seemed to pass all the pieces just fine. If the symptoms are there, don't question it, take them in.

Sorry for your loss JRS. It seems to be a trend around here. We know these dogs get into everything & we can't be there 24/7. But like stated, see any symptoms don't hesitate, get them checked asap.

is there much chance of blockage with bones, or will they tend to break down it they did swallow a bigger piece?

there is always that possibility Buck but its a smaller chance of the bones causing a blockage than less say anything non edible plastics tree barks woods and things of that nature also fabrics just so many thing but bones is a lil more rare to cause a blockage than other things

Piece of green rubber from a nylabone double action chew.

This was his second bone and had it for a year and had torn the rubber off 6 months ago.

So here is an update. I need your guys' advice. My dog is now back to full strength and everything was good. Until a probation officer showed up at my door this afternoon saying she was a concerned citizen who had heard that my dog was emaciated. She asked to see my dog I said no. She begged me, I said no. She offered to pay me and I said no. I told her that I had already been inconvenienced once when animal control showed up and that they saw the dog and he was fine. She was persistent and went on to say that the girls who told her about my dog(my only neighbors have 2 girls) felt bad that he was too skinny and fed him chicken! My dog is on a hard food only diet with occasional treats. These stupid ass neighbors must have fed my dog some undercooked, raw, or spoiled chicken with or without bones, and imo that is what almost killed him. The shit cost me $800 to save him. So what do I do? How do I get this probabtion officer off my back? How can I confront my neighbors and get my $800 back?

cut your loss brother, call it a day, not worth the bs, trespassing is about all i can think of , without proof, but get one of those deer cameras for the trees(motion censor one, point it just buy your dog where they reach over, catch them feeding,

(AND CONFRONT WITH PICTURES, THEN THEY SHOULD , BUGGER OFF AND LEAVE YOU ALONE OUT OF EMBARRASSMENT, hopefully) , put it just in you window, so it can't be stolen, or put up a high fence,

that's the shitty thing about the city....nosy neighbors, or make a comment about feeding there kids spoiled meat,

it obviously made the dog sick...,

those deer cams are great! catch any movement at all, night or day!

thee are cheaper models for $100-$120 well worth the money tho!!!

you'll get a pic them like a scared deer face, lol

they work great for remote yards where (good neighbors) couldn't tell if its good visit or bad visit, when your not home.
at least it better than," i saw this vehicular go in and come out", when you missing a dog.... at least you got a finger to point then.....

I lost my first bulldog to a blockage as well. It was a learning experience for sure. He was a great dog.

    Ferk out
