No problem, I used to do the same when I was younger and didnt know any better. They have a type of immunity to "pit viper" venom. Resilient little creatures actually they just look disgusting.

yea i live in queens ny. so we take about a 30 minute trip upstate . the dogs love it there quick as shit and grab the rabbits like its nothing. great to watch. he lets the dogs eat them raw and they loveee it. he gets the and cooks them for himself though lol. the dogs will grab them shake them to break their necks, bring them to him, and if he lets them eat them then its ok , if not he takes them home . i love to watch it, i keep hearing there is a ferral pig problem in new york and want to get into that. but i cant find any recources about it

I say go borrow a Rat Terrier or a Jack Russell for a week or so.
A cat is a good idea but it needs to be a dog friendly cat like mine. A grown cat can tear a young dogs face up.

i dont think any animal is the way to go here tbh mate if theyre under the floor boards use traps if not (and your dogs cant get to it) use poison, one good way ive heard to get rid of them is mix some chocolate spread and anti-freeze together and they go blind and then go in search of water so theyll die but not on your property i.e under the floorboards where theyll rot

Forget poison. Its too risky. Your dogs or someone else's will probably eat the dead rats and be poisoned.

And if you buy an animal, like a cat or ferret, you're going to have to live with it long after the rat problem has been resolved. And a little JRT or Patterdale (as cool as they are) probably won't even catch many rats if they're hiding in the walls. And no matter what you buy theres a good chance your APBT is probably going to be aggressive towards that animal pretty soon.

Why not just put out traps? Hide traps here your dog can't get to them and check them every morning. Discard the dead rats (here your dog won't find them) and reset the traps as needed. If you put maybe 5 or 6 every night it'll really make a dent in the rat population fast. Just don't forget to check the traps every morning, because by the time you can smell it that rats been dead for a while!

I pretty much threw the cat idea or ferret idea out the window. He's way to agressive with other dogs/animals even though he's only 4 months. I'll try the traps.

my two cents, DO NOT buy a savannah cat! They are way worse than a mish mash bred house cat, which are bad enough anyway even if your dog does get along with it. Cats contribute to so much damage in Aus and in my opinion should be eradicated completely ;). On the other hand you could try those industrial bait box traps. Every factory I've worked at that used them found they worked wonders. And an air rifle doesnt go a stray either:)

I threw out the posin traps, too risky. I took kayne to the vet and got him all his shot including rabies which he got right when he was of correct age. I'm not as worried anymore. He's already ran down some squirrels, I might let him have a go at a rat.
