Red-nosed Colby????

Ok so awhile back i purchased a puppy from a friend of a friend and was told the dog was of Colby lineage. I was told the parents were registered and i knew both dogs quite well (since my friend had them alot of times when we went hunting)so i wasnt as careful as usual. I was also told that he would send me the papers on a later date as he hadnt registered the litter yet..now at the time i was naive and i trusted the man since he was my friend's friend.turns out i never got the papers but the dogs the real deal.. Ive since confronted the dude and he told me that his brother has the papers but he has to find them..now i know im probably never gonna get the papers..not that it matters i love my dog either way. but i was wondering if yall could tell me some tell tell physical characteristics of Colby dogs seeing as there generally a tight family of dogs. the gyp was bred to her father to make this litter and both of them fit the look of most colby dogs ive seen.. She's predominately white with a black nose and so is her sire..now my pup is mostly white as well but he's rednosed and believe me i know that you cant usually tell a dogs pedigree from his looks but i was told that Colby dogs "never" have the rednose trait.
Please anyone to reply keep it as clean as you can and just realize im looking for yalls opinion on whether or not i was totally fucked on the papers or if the dog could actually be bred the way i was told and he just doesnt have papers?I'll post a pick of the dog tomorrow if yall want

Its possible but yet very unlikely if the dog is of pure Colby breeding, now if the sire and the grand dam (since he's inbred on the sire) of your dog both have a red gene 'hidden' in their blood and still have the recessive trait then when they bred your pup's gene's lined up with those recessive genes then this is more likely possible. The red trait gene can stay hidden in recessive forum for 2 to 3 or more generations down from the dog(s) that was Red/Red. I've seen this happen with my own eyes.

 

99.999999999% dont and shouldnt have a red nose. most people know but those who dont and know a little about the breed, would know the colby name, so for a peddler its good lying point.
id say you will never see the papers because they dont exist.
A; if they did have papers he wouldnt have to lie about the bloodline.

B;Colby's dont do rednose dogs and never have.

its common for thid to be said, i had a lady who was arguing with us about her 100pound bully being a gamebred dog, when that failed she redeemed herself by sending me pms with her "gamebred,chocolate rednose colby bred" dog and how they even picked it up from lou themselves. she was swiftly proven wrong and then her story changed that her partner picked it up and she had never seen any papers.
try a search of my old posts or search "colby" in the bloodlines forum here and youl find it as it was only a few weeks back.

i wouldny worry about it anyway as long as your happy with the dogs.

 

That's about it. It certainly is possible; not likely, but possible. Hell, I've seen purebred rednosed AmStaffs. As for the Colbys though, don't bring a bitch with a red nose to breed to one of their studs, no matter how good the bitch is. But, they'll certainly sell you a pup to breed to a mongoose if you want. That's pretty much all I need to know about priorities, etc.

read his damm book it says they thru red nose dogs but not any since the 50's

your missing the point- there is one, thats right one ~documented~ report of a Colby dog attacking/killing someone.
now, look at this.....

a twenty generation pedigree has 2,097,152 ancestors

by that reasoning 1 in over 2 million is a pretty good track record for ANY breed of dog. ashamed? hell no, quite the opposite. thats a pretty remarkable feat. while i wish it could be zero, the reality is that as long as man and beast of ANY kind interact-there WILL be attacks/fatalities...thats just nature and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

so take your BS elsewhere hammer head. its funny, you go from nutswinging of paper hanging phoney assed kennels calling them real fastlane dogmen, to backing something that a crazed anti-dog woman miraculously found.

I dont want a companion, ive been bite and harrassed by dogs as a kid....so a box dog that would soon as scratch as look at another dog suits me fine.

I like mexicans and their dogs that work. I dont put dogs on a pedistel. The serve my purpose and get fed. Any one that works their dogs got my vote but we do get manny dogs. With proper precautions most accidents can be avoided.

Ask bobby hall how his robert dog ripped his wife face, zebo and bolio were tempermental. I just dont sugar coat life.

ps Balkan/serbia/moldova/russia/turkey/greece/ukraine/belarus/saudi/jordan/china/south america/phillipines all work their dogs. I know where i would spend my money.JMO
