  1. I could sit and watch those videos all day long. Those dogs are so well bred and spot on they know just what to do and when to do it. My favorite one is of Levi in the boat that was awesome. My old lady always laughs because every other day I'm telling someone else about your dogs and that one day I will have one. They truely are the perfect p/p dog.

Ill be honest, before your dogs, i havent even heard of the swinford k9. Theyre good looking dogs. Is that the only breed you have used? ave you ever considered using a cane corso or dogo argentino, which are extremely large/powerful dogs?

Tryptronics, thanks again. Breeding gives the dogs their drives, which make my work easy. But it is the training that teaches them to respond to the commands.

Viegas, the reason you hadn't heard of the Swinford is probably because all of Swinford's personal original dogs have since died out. We have studied his work for about 2 decades now, but didn't start our program to recreate his work until about a decade ago. Since then, we have come a long way.

I have worked a few Cane Corsos, but found most to lack prey drive. They seem to work mostly out of defense drive and rank drive. I am not a big fan of rank driven dogs for civilian/family protection work myself. I didn't choose the dogo because of 2 primary reasons...1. white, as I don't like white for PP work. I prefer a more camoflague dog that is less visible to a criminal...and 2. many dogos have cancer and other health problems. So, I felt it was best to recreate the Swinford. It has been costly, time consuming, and a great deal of hard work that required a lot of testing...but I feel we have done well.

IMO rank drive dogs tend to die out once the going gets tough/.... and your correct exspecially that in cane corso l, they tend to show lack of drive when things get tough or dont go the way they want.... lee did you find that cane corso wind was not up to par?

That is correct, and I think I commented on that in another thread. Lacking wind isn't just a Cane Corso problem though. It is a problem seen in most mastiff type breeds. Some are better than others though, including some corsos. A good corso can be impressive still. Many Corso though have some Rottiweiler blood in them though, which tends to exaggerate their rank and defense drives, but also creates a lack of fight drive when the going gets tough. I believe this is where "rank cur" comes from. They will fight hard as long as they are not tired or hurt, but once they begin getting taxed (tired or hurt) or should they be dominated (shutting down their rank position) rank driven dogs will seldom stay long.

The guy that owns Chief says he is willing to stud him out. If interested, PM me and I can forward you the information to contact Chief's owner. Here are two more pictures of cheif...strange lighting and contrast for some reason, but he swears they are not photoshopped. Apparently they were taken with a phone camera or something which caused the grainy imaging.

That dog is such a monster. How good is his stamina when he was with you?

    Lee Robinson Big Dog

    Pac-Man's wasn't so good...just average...

But Chief's stamina was outstanding despite being a bigger dog. Pac-Man was built like Tyson or Arnold, while Chief was more like Evander...but much bigger than Pac-Man or the mythical character "Rocky."

man, hes a great looking animal. Seems to be very well rounded by the way you talk about him. I can only hope my little guy turns out that way.

That should have said, "Chief is more like Evander, or the mythical character "Rocky Balaboa" (in referrence to the type of muscular build Sylvester Stallone had in say Rocky IV or so when he fought the big Russian). Chief had that lean compact hard muscle instead of bulky "fleshy" soft type of muscle like Pac-Man.

I wish you luck with your dog. Keep us posted.

He said he can deal with the bitch if you need to send her up. Although he hasn't bred dogs himself, a good friend of his has several times. Not to mention, Chief is an easy breeder.
