hi guys, my girl is showing some major aggression (growling, showing teeth and snapping) when she has a bone and i try to come near her with my hand, i know she is just trying to defend her food, do any of you have some tips for me or has anyone experienced this also.

    she's 15 weeks.:dogtongue:

    thanks.

snatch the bone from her and make her submit. Also make her EARN the treats and take the bone/food away at will. Let her know u run shit and can take whatever u want from her whenever YOU WANT at the early age before it gets outta hand.

I've had this problem with a couple pups. I just took the shit away from her and corrected her without showin agression back towards her. Its hard to fight tension with tension. Don't be afriad and be like ohhh shit scared to get in there and take that shit away from her. take it from her and dont give it to her til u want too. My dog use to do that with a bed when she was a pup. i took it away from her... and took her off it frequently whenever i wanted. i'd just kick her off for no reason to show her i run this shit. never had the problem again. You got other dogs that do that same stuff? i think my pup picked it up from my moms boxer... he was possessive of things cuz my mom let him do whatever he wanted and the other dogs started displaying the same behavior.

    thanks jeeperino...

i do make her Earn her treats (i let her sit, down, stay) before i give her, but after she has the bone she turns mad! Yesterday i snatch the bone but i could only do it when holding her in her neck pressing her down..

is it a smelly/meaty bone? that can be a catalyst.

Yeah like venom said dont show aggression and dont make eye contact (very breif) with her.

take the bone away. when you give it to her, hold it in your hand but don't let go. just let her have a chew while you are holding it and talk calmly with her. when she's chewing it and not growling, praise her.
just do this for a short time as a treat, then put it away till next time etc.
never had this problem personally, but helped a mate out with another breed/same issue. took a few weeks to sort out, but it did the trick.
its not really something that ive seen of with these dogs and not something id put up with at all. good luck, hope you can correct this before to long. stay confident and you should be ok, she's only a young pup.

she used to do it with her food also, after letting her eat from my hand it stopped. but i think the bone is a whole different ball game.

    Thanks.

she's just being possessive, thinking its hers and you're trying to take what belongs to her. you just gotta establish that everything is yours first.

you dont got any kids do you lol
dogs sometimes do the same shit with kids, so watch out for that.
alot of ppl think the dog is being protective, but really its possessive.

i got 1 kid in the house, but he doesnt feed her or anything, just playing with her when i'm around is allowed (and no tug games between them).

she already is starting to listen and knowing who is in charge, for example she knows that the couch is of limit for her... at the moment the only thing is the bone issue everything else is going fine.

well how does it act with animals ?? might sound strange to you but i'd rath it be more agressive with other dogs, that would make me think a you have a chance..i always say if the dog don't show it twards other dogs it's gonna think about showing it somewhere.. look out when your vacumeing..i had this prolbem that one was agressive twards everything finally had to have her put down at age 10 i tried way to long with that hardwired animal and even though she bit me 3 times and got the yardhand 3 more very bad it was so hard to do it

putting her down is out of the question, she is 15weeks!! she is good with other animals as long as they don't growl or bark at her.
