There are ways of testing dogs to be proven worthy of breeding in "todays society". It just depends on what you plan on doing with your dog AND what u plan on doing with the pups. If you want to produce a dog better than your own at whatever sport or event you're participating in, i think its okay to breed responsibily. This means either you're keeping all of the pups yourself or you're placing the pups in similiar homes that want dogs for the same or similiar acitivities. Meaning you're taking on the responsibility of making sure your pups are claimed for before they hit the ground, going to homes and people who know what to do with them and actually want a product of the cross you did.

Don't do it just to do it or because you think you can make some money... you'll end up with pups with no homes and no purpose and the shelter has enough of those.

i have one question, why are you so worried about getting a hard mouth, when your not going to be putting them on the line?

bdub if this question is focused on me and you dont know the answer from reading the rest of this thread then pm me

  4. first off you need to let him mature an prove his worth. how do you know he is a bulldog if he never been in the woods?
once again how do you know what he is lacking an he has never been in the woods? the last thing you need to be thinking about rite now is breeding.

There is no guarentee youll get pups with hardmouths just from getting some chinaman/homer/ frisco in them.. IMO you are already working with two tremendous lines of game dogs.. so I would lean towards a redboy/jeep dog that is proven and has the characteristics you desire. you could even lean towards a colby or eli dog for something nice and thats already in your dogs ped so thats a plus.. im in a similar position now myself but going to wait until after show season to finalize decision.. GOOD LUCK!

  17. never no about the breeding until u make it. IMO

research was wrong if it told you the way that dogs bred it should lack mouth, you're lucky to have got a dog off that sire, good for you.
