They were started back in the 80's in Kansas and are a mix of the English, French, and Manchester. I am going to get a breeding pair as there aren't many in Texas. What I have seen is the traits of the Am Pit in a small package that will fit the bill for a lot of folks wanting a Pit, but not having the room for an 80+ pound dog. I have to admit, they aren't a gorgeous dog... but they say the dogs don't know they are small. Anyway, all the breeds out there started from someone mixing to get a new dog... I am getting in on the ground floor!

 

I have 3 Am Pits that I have no room for in my townhouse, and am still suffering from Post Economic Divorce Syndrome... So I am going to give them a chance. I found a black brindle male from Kansas where they started them, and their dogs look more Pit than a lot I have seen...
