chinaman, GR ch. buck earned that title cause he was a bad a** dog I give em that but if we are talking as if his record were current then i would think some of that would have wore on him. jmo.

 

ill like to give it to buck, juss cuz i got 1 of his grand kids. BUT realistically im not sure as i heard/read great things about chinaman!

but ive heard MANY more folks payin hommage to chinaman over buck. from what ive heard so far, i liked bucks story more than any of the others ive read (not too many).

 

do you mean great grand kids laced(or even great great lol)... cus there are only a couple grandkids of buck alive today and theyre like 10 years old plus lol..

I pick buck in like an 1 hour 15 or 30 minutes but im curious to why yall picked what yall did is it just because chinaman was a killer you picked or is it just because Buck has the gr ch title, the reason I pick Buck is because chinaman never had to really dance with anyone he went into bigger opponents so it was easier to get where h ewanted in a way cause they didnt move as quickly as him and another reason I pick buck cause he was all around mouth agile ability everything and chinaman is not used to someone dancing around not letting him get his hold i believe he would eventually start to give up and get frustrated and buck is gonna still be confident in his fighting and he is gonna win. IMO:rolleyes:

I would go with Gr Ch Buck because Ch Chinaman was only 44-45lb. match dog. That 1lb. could make a big difference. But, I like both dogs equally. Both are legends.

CHINAMAN was called out at 7 years old and just to make a buck never met a dog with the intensity of CHINAMAN AND IF they was to meet buck would off met his match possibly RIP mr buck cause CHINAMAN was a for real killer its not his fault he aint had anything that could hang in there with him going by pedigree he was built to do what he did best and that was win and end others dogs careers ... bottom line

Chinaman was a FREAK but i have to go with my boy Buck. I think Buck would have weathered the storm then cleaned the floor with Chinaman.

this whole thing is assuming we're talking pre-76. I would have to say Ch Chinaman. Buck was a phenomenal dog no doubt and proved to be one of the all time greats but its kinda hard to keep a dog out of your gut. Its too much to continuously guard. A leg is easy to keep a dog off if you're a smart dog. Chest and stifle you can adapt to if you're a smart dog. You can ride the ear all day long and let the other dog tire himself out trying to get to any of those but once a dog gets to the gut and has a bear trap for a mouth, its not too many more times he's needs to get there which is why chinaman matches never went that long. Once you start leaking from those vital organs its pretty much a thing of how much damage can you do to the other dog or how long you can last before you check out. Truth is chinaman may not have been as game as buck and probably wasnt but sometimes the game can lose to a hard biting monster that doesnt the same gameness. In their prime and again in their prime, Evander Holyfield could go alot longer than Tyson but Tyson would have knocked his ass out in the first 2 rounds by making him open up with a couple of body shots then bam right in the jaw. Again i state in their prime. Now good game against good game was Mayweather vs. De La Hoya. Thats Buck against someone else but absolutely not chinaman. My great grandfather saw both of those dogs go he said buck was sure to be more game than chinaman but vinny just had a killing machine that you didnt want to have to see across the box from you. The one thing he said to me, and he hardly even talks about dogs anymore, but he said you have people that will breed for years and never hear of because they're breeding for freaks and once that accident happens they hit the scene and you have people that breed for gameness and they're always there. Wins and loses. They love the sport. The guys who breed for freaks are about making a good dollar out of it and dont enjoy the sport just the purse. He said he enjoyed watching them go all night. He went to a 12 dog show and said he made it there for 6 in the evening and didnt leave until 6 the next morning. He said some guys come in to race and some guys come in to to collect the purse as quick as possible. It just depends on the man. He also said if theyre were gamedog contest today that he'd bring freaks as much as he could because we're in a recession. Lol! but he was serious and joking at the same time. Good old man but i will say judging by him they culled based on different beliefs than we do today. SUNBEAM---homer was zebos "nephew" and killed all four opponents before meeting jeep. Had they gone at his best weight(46 pounds) homer would have killed jeep too. He was a destroyer and that is why Stepp and Co. wanted to use him as a replacement. To say that he is no art, or zebo is ignorant. Do some homework, talk to people who saw his matches and then post something worth reading.
