Bandogs

The mix that is most popular for a bandog is apbtxneo mastiff, but some people use other mastiffs in the mix aswell,I have 2 bandog a male and female, they are both from a neo mastiff dam, the male has bully type dog , the female has half gamebred apbt. anyone here has bandogs , if so, whats in the mix, temperament and some pics would be nice. :rolleyes:

 

I had an aquaintence years back with a Swinford Bandog. He was a pretty mellow dude, although he had some ''quirks''. He was ''odd'' with people who had male dogs. Good with his family, kids and all. Loved my female dogs. He did protection training with him so he'd step up to the plate when needed. Mostly he was just chill though. I don't know why I didn't take any pictures of him. Probably because I didn't like the guy much. He kept bugging me to breed my female with his dog as he was breeding him back to APBT's but I wasn't interested. My ex bred his bitch to him though so I have tons of pictures of the litter as guess who got to look after the pups dispite not wanting the breeding done? :rolleyes: Ya... that'd be me. lol

 

OMG. I got curious and googled Lakota Mastina {which is what he wanted to call what he produced by breeding his dogs back to APBT} and I found this link. This guy lived with a dog, whose sire was the same dog as the litter I raised.

He aint got a thing on Big Games man purse tho....back to topic, i have only been around a couple bandogs that werent someones backyard experiment, and i was suprised how stable of an animal they were. Id like to try one out, but the Neos have been ruined by the show folk it seems, so id want a healthier mastiff breed in the makeup.

 

Actually, here's a bitch from that litter. She's a ''Lakota Mastino'' though, so again... Swinford Bandog bred back to an APBT.



She was an asshole. Bit an aquaintence of mine, but part of the blame goes to the owner as well as the guy, never mind the breeding. :rolleyes: He hyped her up with a particular ''term'' and dared this guy to see what she'd do if he egged her on with it.. and ya.. she bit him. Don't say ''Space Monkey'' when this dogs around. :rolleyes: Her owner got all junked out and left her with someone who couldn't deal with her so he brought her out to me. Within about ten minutes of her being at my house, she growled at my son, so on a chain she went until buddy was able to take her back. I actually blame her crap temperment on her APBT side though. My ex's bitch was a snakey, kid growling dink, too. She was the main reason we split up. I thought she should be on a one way trip to the vet, and he though she should be bred to make him some $. :rolleyes:

I've got more pictures of the litter when they were pups but I don't think any pics of them as adults. This is the only one I scanned on to the computer yet though.

 

Oh wait... got a couple scanned. The pups were just tiny then though. Got a bunch when they are bigger in my photo albums....



Actually, I liked this little guy. I would have considered keeping him and one of the other females. I called him ''Bull Quarter''. lol

 

as the OP was talking about the different blood used. my fist dog was a Bandog from working lines. Bullmastiff X APBT. this was over 20 years ago and sadly all pics were lost in a fire

Question if i had a Corso X'd with a Pit would that make him a bandog?

 

Before I knew any better, I thought a true bandog was all in the breed (neoxmastiff),its not so, the true bandog is a pp working dog, in order to truly be called a bandog, it has to work and do it well lol.

 

Old topic but ill reply, i have two bandogs, both bred to do work, my male does pp work, he is good with my family and daughter, he is about 120 pounds, more mastiff like in temperment, and unfourtnetly wind, but he has no back in him, and isnt scared! he is a pitbull underneath and an working english mastiff on top, also have a female with the same dad, but a performance bulldog underneath, she is to young to start the training yet, but is starting to show good sighns of a working dog..... the problem with the bandogs is the consitency, some of them have nerve issues, and some back in them........

ive bred ambull/pbt before....turned out great litter.....not one was manny or iffy to be around.....tho one was very guarding of his house....not bad thing tho.....i still see one of them everyday....big harry.....cracking big lug of a dog..
