if duel sires means to breed two males to one female in the same heat

I was told that you would beable to tell which dog sired which pups

    BUT!

I have never had the need to try it
just seems like a way to hang papers off a dog that cant produce

garbage, no need for a dual sired litter. do it right or dont do it at all.

I heard it's useful in finding what stud produces better with the bitch in one pregnancy rather than trying multiple times. DNA testing shows which sire goes for which pup.

i know a fella who did it with an older bitchs last litter. he wanted to take her to two different studs he had access to for the future of his yard, and it worked out well for him. it ended up being a small litter, but if memory serves correct he did get a 50/50 turnout

I will be doing this sometime in the near future, both of the males I have semen for will be put in the same bitch at the same time and I will have the pups DNA profiled to know for a fact which sire sired which pup. I will let you know how it turns out for me

why not wait for the next heat specialy if its an artifical at least you know for shure
and it would save you the cost of a DNA profile fee for a litter

maybe time and space is limited. maybe the female is old like woody stated. i think it's a good idea. maybe one day when i have learned enough and have a worthy female i might try it.

It's called stirring the pot, it was told to me by someone whos opinion means alot to me that when you stir the pot within the same family you will get better results instead of just keeping it tight based off of immediate family. Also something I thought would be interesting is if they were dual sired and the sires were not of the same immediate strain of blood would the dams genes take over more or would the sires genes be jumbled up more. I don't know the anwser to that question myself, well not yet anyway.

I would think it's like human pregnancy, where it's one sperm cell per egg cell. That would make it impossible for the genes for the sires to be jumbled together.

so M ac you are sayn that by breeding the two males to one female if she had only one pup that both males would be the sire to that one pup

I tell you what you try it and if the whole litter shows genes from all three parents after you get a DNA test

That would would make a beliver out of me

untill then I think it is just a wast of time

I'm pretty sure it's impossible for two sperm cells to combine or interact in anyway.

No, I'm not saying that the two sires would jumble together. What I meant was that maybe the fact that two sires were introduced to the same set of eggs that the genes in each sire would be jumbled more and maybe throw some older genes in the newer dogs.

It doesn't work that way. They either have the genetic code for something, or they don't. Culling and selective breeding is what brings out those traits.

If it works anything like humans then some of the dogs sperm are to impregnate and the others to try and stop others from getting to that egg. So you could have a total of 6 puppies 3 for one sire and 3 for another but no one puppy will have the codes for all 3 dogs. Also not saying it will be half and half could be 5 to 1 or any sort.

I'm not a fan of duel sires but to each his own.

I personally wouldn't do it. I think it's for those people with a rush rush mentality, who don't wanna wait till the next time it's proper to breed but that's jmho. Now that being said the only time i consider it even mildly okay is if the bitch is old as in last litter old.
