mix a small amount of the crap in with the good stuff, then cut back the amount of the lesser quality food little by little until it is completely out of the equation.

maybe raw food wil work for you, i got a puppie of 5 weeks old thats jumping for her meals.
And another of almost 6 months that doesn't even eat kibble or anything like that.
Even a simple brown bread is to low, only meat and bones for her
    She doesn't want anything else
and they grow very good on that

I used Orijen and my dogs cut way back after weening off another brand food. Orijen does not have any grain carbs the only carbs it has is its Veggi so its little to none pluse all the dry protien is hard on the dog to digest so soak it b4 giving it this will help. I use Orijen to cut up my dogs and it works fast and great 7fish formula is good.

The reason why dogs get "hooked" on cheap food is because of all the salt and sugar in it! These ingredients make their pallet change over time. You are best to ween the dog off that crap with a gradual transition.

Most people Ive spoken to will have success going from something like pedigree to something like Nutro Max. From there another change to a higher quality food can be done. The Max's flavor is made to be similar to that of a food like Pedigree but without salt, by-products or corn. So, it's a better quality food but it tastes similar. After eating this diet for a few weeks the dogs wont have had so much salt and will be more able to taste a new diet.

Foods like Orijen are great but in a dog that is strictly on Pedigree or other salty foods it's sometimes hard to change directly to that food.

i used the fish first and he would not eat it much so i changed to puppy formula, he did not like it much so i soaked it with good wet food and he still wouldnt eat much. he gets very cut affter the orijen diet but i dont feel that at 6 months he needs that

he hasnt had much pedagree only when the fish formula run out (wich i gave him since 2 months) and i noticed he was eating a lot more/growing more with the pedagree!! (i could see all his ribs at 6 months till i stared giving pedagree)

i might have to start feeding raw... but this is expensive for me and hes even picky wih that, some days he ears it up and some he dosnt want it, he just seams to realy love junk food, or things we eat)

How long will the pup not eat? I say give the dog what you are trying to feed it. And if it doesnt eat it in an hour. Take it away and let it go hungry. Then same thing tomorrow. Give it the food for an hour. If it doesnt eat. Let it go hungry. Then do the same thing for 5 days. And im pretty sure the pup will be to hungry to try to get picky on you..

Are you feeding the puppy any dog treats or anything else that could fill it up before meal time or maybe make it a picky eater.

make sure its only eating the food that your feeding it.

The dog should have some intelligence enough to realize that it needs to eat. And if it still hasnt ate in 5 days. I'd try feeding something else.....

or maybe mix your old dog food with the new one that you have.. 25/75 then 50/50 and then 75/25. then get rid of the old food completely..

    see how that goes..

  12. I never know how to answer this type of question as every dog I've ever owned has been a guts, the current one would chew his way through razor wire to eat a pile of vomit.

Jelet hit it on the head; when hunger starts knocking, i promise ya it'll eat.

  14. Dont give him any treats or table scraps..otherwise he might expect that and not eat his dogfood.

You'll notice even if he does start taking to the orijen that he won't eat as much of it, thats because it's higher condensed food then the cheap stuff and thus takes less to fill. That being said by the sounds of it he isn't getting enough of it anyways, i had my female orijen and she just never took to it, however if you don't wanna spend the money on raw dog food mix in half a can of tuna and see if that gets him interested. If not then follow jelet's advice, if he ain't smart enough to eat eventually well...
