    Real Simple Yes or No
Personally I think its wrong to disable/disfigure an animal to this extent.

it depends on the breed...on the APBT, no way!

According to the generally accepted ADBA standard for the APBT docked tails are not acceptable.. and I agree for this breed.

Me personally I like the look of docked tails, my Staffie Bull/APBT cross had a docked tail and an old family red nose girl had a docked tail....wasn't my doing though....we got them with docked tails.

I would think it would throw off their balance a bit seeing as the tail is apart of the spine, I realize other breeds do it but they do it for a reason, APBT tails are not ment to be docked, therefore I personally would never do it unless it was because of a medical issue

They do use it in balance I see it in agility and in swimming, they use it like a ruder. In an APBT I think it should only be docked if it had a medical reason. Other breeds it is the standard and that is ok.

  10. No way!!! Not on an APBT:mad:

I usually like the natural tail in every breed, and I love pit´s tails. I just see understable to have a docked tail in boxers because they are to nervous and hurt themselves when they are inside the houses, and in breeds like yorkshire terrier because the tail has long hair and works like a broom onces they get outside.

I hear you on the boxer comment, I have a mutt here, half boxer and when she wags her tail you better watch out, cups, plates, ornaments have all been smashed and thats not even considering the full body shake she does when really excited, kids and small tables have been known to go for a hop hahaha

Oh ye, and would never cut a bulldogs tail, it doesnt look good and they need it, unless it was a medical problem I would never touch it

Cutting the tail of a dog is bizarre. "Hooray, lets go cut animal's tails off!". I'm glad it's now illegal in Australia.

i agree with you, and will be illegal in Spain next year I think(I´m glad about it), but not in some cases when the operation does a good to the animal. I wouldn´t like to have ulcers around my spine if I was a boxer or in other cases when is not just for fashion. My opinion is that is you think about the animal think all the way.

This is one reason not to do it..A dogs tail may increase their agility and ability to turn quickly. It is also a very important source of balance. Tail muscles are also important in stabilizing the vertebral column and supporting the action of the extensor muscles of the back, as well as those of the croup and buttocks..Not my words.Just scientific facts.

 Hell no! an apbt aint no apbt without that whip like tail! and enough has been said already about how crucial the tail is for stability

Some ppl cut their dog's ears just cuz they like it. Why not cutting the tail? I've seen go dogs doing great with no tail. Maybe those ppl wanted a dictinctive dog .
BTW i wouldn't cut my dogs tail, i don't like how it looks and I would miss seeing her tail wagging like it's gonna come off.:)

I don't think there should be laws against it,I think that would be infringing on someones rights. But I do think docking an APBT's tail is a really dumb thing to do as it can serve no good purpose and negatively affects agility, balance amd performance. That right there would be a great reason not to do it IMO.Boxers and dogs like that,I've never really known why their tails are docked but I guess that's just the accepted standard,I just don't know why.But I'd never dock a APBT tail unless it was an absolute emergency.
