lucy has a kong which i filled with peanut butter and kibble yesterday, i don't know if i did something wrong or if she just doesn't really like the thing but she ate as much of the PB she could then just got bored, it took maybe 5 minutes at the most, i figured that she would be at it for at least an hour or as long as it took to get all the PB out, but she didn't even care that there was leftover people food inside, it was strange, so i am wondering how is she supposed to get the pb out of the bottom part with the small hole, i had to clean it out myself which was pretty difficult.

Make sure you supervise your dog with any toy to make sure they don't eat and get pieces of it lodged inside of them.

No longer little pups, my dogs now go through kongs just like any other toy out there. I've tried everthing but I can't find anything that they can play with without breaking it and risking possible health risks eating the pieces. I would like to know what's out there that can work well.

There's some advice worth heeding. It's no fun to sit by your phone wondering if your dog made it through that 2000-dollar surgery.

so i shouldn't give lucy her kong when she is in her crate for a long time. also while we are on this topic, lucy somehow mananged to get on the kitchen counter when i was in the bathroom, my hubby left a bowl of chicken wing bones on the counter and she got one and swallowed it whole, that was on saturday, its now wednesday and so far she has been fine, she may have passed it but i am not sure, she is pooping fine and there doesn't seem to be an issue but has anyone else had this happen to their dogs, should i take her to the vet.

My dogs will not touch the "Kong"... bought it, they hate it... not one chew mark on it. They like the volleyball and absolutley love stuffed animal rabbits, they enjoy trying to keep the toys away from me.

Lil'lucybear you have to check and see if she passed that bone, it could prove to be harmful if she doesn't. (chicken bones crack and split into sharp edges)

Although I have seen a full grown APBT eat a raw chicken and crunch the bones before...

ok ill check, this happened to my friends dog and he just passed it whole, i know she swallowed it whole, didn't chew it at all so unless it broke in her belly it is whole, but it would prob. take a few days to pass right?

I'm going to try the bowling ball, good idea marty! We put one of our dogs in a kennel area with a hard plastic ball big enough that he cant pick it up and he'll go all day at it. Pretty good for agility and it gives him a good workout.

COOKED chicken bones crack and split into sharp edges, read it again so it sinks thru. Raw chicken is FINE to feed to the dogs.

Well Bubba the way I see it is that she never stated "COOKED", just because they are wings you cannot assumed cooked. And besides in an earlier post you were concerned about little rubber pieces (which I agree with) but your not worried about a chicken bone in a 12 month old pup?

So, yes I understsand that "RAW" is ok... I guess that was my bad for assuming cooked... just to clairify my last post.

I'd stay away from Kongs. I read a story online not to long ago, of a kennel that went through hell with one of their most prized dogs...all over a Kong. He had eaten part of it, it got lodged in his intestines, and the vets simply could not figure out what was wrong with him. Finally, the poor dog got so incredibly thin that you could see the outline of the piece of Kong through his belly. They operated, and got the rotten piece of rubber out. The dog is fine now, but my advice to everyone is to leave the Kongs to the other breeds. JMHO.
