i have somthing else to ask, altho most of the time Dexters ears are rose ears somtimes he pulls them back to a point were they almost meet at the back of his head, is that because of submition/fear (he does it when he is just relaxin or runin or just from time to time) or just gemetics, could it be a sighn of him not being purebred.

A dog, when relaxed or in a submissive state will pull his ears back like that, and sometimes, when they're scared they will to. It's a form of "non aggressive" body language.

is it bad for him to do it often, does it mean he's soft

Not a bad thing at all. Your dog will modify his body language from situation to situation. You're probably going to find that he acts playfully and/or submissively with (hopefully) the folks you bring home and people he meets outside. Pit Bulls are naturally gentle with humans.

With other animals, on the other hand... That's another matter. Example, when I take Begonia outside she's soft as jello, head down, ears back, trotting along behind me. If I'm not paying attention, and she sees a bunny before I do, her ears are up and she's on her "toes" lunging and screaming.

She loves people, she's very calm and submissive, and if she sees another animal, she wants to kill it.

Believe me, you DON'T want a pit bull at home thinking "he's the boss", JMHO though...

thats sounds like dexter, also i was wondering if its normal for him to play fight with dogs without being agresive at 4 months, like hes taughnting them but not trying to hert/bite them at all (just runs circles around them and when they tell himoff him pushes them with his bum and continues without snaping or anything)

Mate 4 months he's just a pup. And he'll be a big sissy for a while yet. Enjoy having him play with other dogs before he matures. You should be happy with a "soft" dog. Like Harvey says, you DON'T want your dog to think it's boss.

I doubt very much that your dog is "soft" deep inside.

Oh yeah, that's normal, just like the others said. That's what puppies do, they learn a lot about "how to be dogs" and how to interact with dogs this way.

If Dexter has playmates that you know (i.e.: friend's dogs, other family member's dogs, dog you KNOW are healthy -don't have parvo, have recent up-to-date vaccinations, etc) that's fine, let the boy play BUT monitor his interactions with other dogs closely, at all times. It sounds to me like you're taking the nature of the Pit Bull into consideration here, which is good. A lot of folks lie to themselves, or live in denial, saying "My Pittie would NEVER hurt another dog, it's not in his nature." and they use his puppyhood, passive, happy-with-other-dogs nature to lull them into a state of complacency... And then one day their dog attacks their friend or relative's dog, all because they weren't paying attention. It happens. Be prepared for dog-on-dog aggression contingencies later on in life, and do everything you can to make sure he stays socialized with people. My 2 cents....

A young pit should be "soft in that way. According to me fwiiw an older one as well. It has nothing to do with more or less gameness or something.

Submissive.. if that is the right word.. are the way many want them, and is considered being typical for the breed, at least we do. And in your case, it´s also a pup! I would be worried if a young pup did´nt behaved in that way. Weak, soft against the owner and people in general are not in opposition to being a real good pit.

Many of them are sensitive dogs, at least is that my insignificant experience, who thrives best with a gentle upbringing. So if someone wants a people dominant beast or guard dog, I recommend another breed. I personally don´t like when they are used in people dominant type of activities.

It is very individual if and when they show any agressiveness towards other dogs. Some perhaps never do or late, but that does´nt necessarily mean they don´t want to fight them. So, don´t relax to much;)

    Nice looking dog BTW!
