this guy actually kills a man, a family man at that, and gets a whole 30 days in jail. i don't like many of the things that mike vick did, but he sure didn't kill anyone. wtf is wrong with the world when dogmen who get acquited of their crimes lose their dogs, and a guy who kills someone's dad and husband gets 30 friggin days in jail. oh i forgot the poor guy has to do like 2000hrs community service and he lost his license for life. so is that the worth we put on people's lives now? this just sounds bass ackwards to me.

so i guess if i kill someone all i have to do is come up with enough money to pay off the family and then the law doesn't really matter.

yes and no. conduct after an accident does play a big role in the sentence.
HE is the one who called 911 lets remember, and did not flee the scene.
this isnt a "im sorry cause i got caught" kinda of deal- he could have just bolted and very well might have gotten away scott free.
im not sticking up for him- but you have to look at all sides. is the sentence light? in my mind- yes. but the family was satisfied with it-and that is what really matters here.

that's the part that burns my tail. paying off them family and them saying it's enough shouldn't dictate the sentence. i'll bet he did feel bad about it. he sure didn't feel bad when he got behind the wheel drunk. i guarantee if you ask that guy's daughter what she thinks that guy should've got for killing her dad she wouldn't have said 30 days in jail is just fine. if a guy who abuses his dogs gives them a bone, then the dog licks his face and wags his tail, does that mean the guy shouldn't be punished b/c the dog accepted the payoff? this is basically putting dogs above humans. stiff sentences for animal abuse, a slap on the wrist if you feel bad, and pay the family alot of money for killing someone. getting behind the wheel drunk is a crime, killing someone is a crime. 30 days in jail is a joke. he took a man's life. in the end, that's what they should look at. he voluntarily chose to drive after he'd been drinking. i say a more fitting punishment would be for him to go to that guy's daughter and tell her he killed her father and ask her what she thought should be done about it.

Look at it this way, Dante Stallworth killed a 59 yr old man this year, and we are barely hearing about him, yet Vick is still daily news.

Thats just insane, how on earth can a sentence like that be justified... pure madness.

because like it or not- the victim was at fault also. he was jaywalking ( walked out mid street between 2 cars). ultimately it is stallworth who failed to control his vehicle and thus he is at fault- but the victim also shares ~some~ of the blame. it doesnt excuse his drunk driving though.

this case has been on ESPN since it happened, so i have seen alot of the details. and i DO think that he is honestly sorry for what happened, not the fact that he got caught.

the guy driving drunk is the problem. had his reflexes not been altered b/c of the alcohol he might've been able to stop. jaywalking isn't punishable by death. it's only on espn b/c he's a football player. other than that it's not been on any other channels that i watch more than once. i'll bet he's sorry he killed someone, just like other murderers are sorry after the fact. they still get life or worse. he was at a party, got drunk, and drove. the fault lies mostly on him. no one jaywalks and says gee i hope there aren't any drunk drivers on the road. alot of what he says is just that, what he says. there's no proof that he tried to warn the guy. he said he flashed his lights and honked his horn. if he had time to do all that why didn't he just hit his brakes? i think some of what he said was just to try to cover his ass.

Welcome to the new America, where animals can inherit their owners wealth, and the life of an animal is much higher up than the life of a human. If he would have hit a dog or cat he would have got life.......lol (not that this situation is funny in the least, just seems to be true these days...) The tree hugger fanatics seem to have accomplished what they have always been after, Their turning the land of the free and home of the brave into the land of the pu$$ies and home of the weak hearted librals.

The media and therefore law enforcement blows drinking and driving way out of proportion. It is another modern day witch hunt, just like with our dogs. Most state laws are so ridiculously tough, that you can rinse with mouthwash and on your way to work get pulled over and be taken to jail. I take every sob story I hear on the news with a grain of salt. I assumed the people on this site would have the good sense to do the same, but I was sadly mistaken.
