if i was, i wouldnt send for MY dogs in your homeland. funny, huh? since YOU GUYS come to MY HOMELAND for YOUR dogs...;) imo a dogman finds good dogs, AND DOESNT BITCH WHERE HE/HER was buying all the supposed "curs". maybe this all goes back to the phrase soo common in the USA..."good dogs are where you find them" maybe you just need to know where to find them , huh?

You will find good dogs anywhere you find good conditioners/ good foundation blood and the right conditions to 'select' or even in places where its difficult to operate.

I do know for example that in the balkans there are so very knowledgable ppl who can condition dogs like the best. they are very dedicated ppl, same goes for U.S.A or anywhere else for that matter. respect goes where its due, personally I respect both big time I also respect the history of the breed right back to the begining and where they came from and the people who made it all possible that we can even discuss and debate here about them. without them none of us would be here!

This IS a bit off topic, but the same principles may apply...

The American Staffordshire Terrier is extremely popular in Europe (for show, but you know that). They are much more popular in Europe than in USA. In France, for example, about 5 times as many are registered per year than in entire USA.

They in many instances come over here and beat us at OUR shows. In many cases, they DO have better dogs.

And I believe it's because of the following reasons:

    1. They imported mediocre dogs for sure.
    2. They breed like crazy over there and they don't worry about pedigree so much. They have mixed up the lines totally. They breed more, keep more and therefore have more to select from. And they are getting really good show dogs. Conformation judges that I know have told me that in talking to the Staf breeders there that they are VERY serious, and know and discuss the show standard for Stafs much more than the breeders here. And then they seem to apply it better.

Yes, show dogs, I know; but I think the genetic principles might be the same. Europe started with USA game dogs, bred them a LOT and selected hard from more dogs. And seem to be more serious about it all.

That's the impression I get from reading through all of this. Kinda the same thing that I have seen going on with the show dogs and Europe.

seeings how this thread has pretty much nothing to do w/ the opriganla topic anymore, im locking this one down.

and for those who are unaware....

The F-bomb is now a banned and bannable word on this site. F**k is acceptible. The reason for this is that there are children on this site. We (adults) have to hold ourselves to a higher standard that we expect from them. We are aware that some threads get a little heated but we ask you to govern yourselfves accordingly. We also realize that in the past we have dropped the F-bomb in our post, so from hense forth that will end. Thanks Game-Dog Staff..
