u know in the past when pit was legal. does a particular bloodline/family also have a style of fighting. were the able to breed for a certain style.

for example , most jeep dogs are head dogs.. or chest.

i hope i am making sense

Dogs are individuals. No matter how thay are bred. Some Familys tend to throw certin traits stronger than others but there is only one way to figure out a dogs style and that would have ben the same way You found out if thay were game

    Send them on there own!
You could carry another back up female for your 1st timer/testing male , or vise versa!

You could have the coyote finish him if he gets beat, but why ???, next time you throw him at a coyote he will fight with a better style or technique, i bet yeah! they gain experience. You can figure out his style by recording it so you can review it!

The pair of dogs is for your first timers or if he fails, and gets in to trouble the first time or two.

but that didnt answer my question, were they able to breed for certain style in the pit like how they bred selectively for gameness.. , say an old timer back in the days wanted for all his dogs to be head dogs.. can he breed for that and get tha tafter generations of selective breeding for game head dogs.

or did they school the dog to get that style.. but u can get that style naturally ..or whatever , get my drift

You would be surprised how quick they learn!!!:D In Alberta they will freely (most farmers) let you hunt coyotes in there fields! day or night, we have a Kawasaki Mule and dune buggy's, to scout the land and when we spot them we get close enough to let the dogs go, about 1/2 mile. then your dog is ready to do his/her thing and you take it as a observation opportunity to view your dog in action!!

like will a hard biter through hard biters! maybe! but it has to be observed to make sure it ain't a DUD and has in fact thrown the genes for mouth muscle! like someone, i think it was Bobby suggested, only way you know is if you TEST! and you cant do that threw a fences with two dogs can you! or by wishing and hoping;)

Some dogs will act just like there parents, one or the other, or just like one of them , its all genes Brother.

Masta its nearly impossible to breed for fightingstyle and perhaps also a myth that you could breed for it. It is known that sometimes you do see a fighting style come back from say a grandfather and or a grandmother but this isnt common at all. I have had a litter that was 8 dogs 3 of those when later tested on a hog showed the same style as their father but it hasnt happened after that for me... So no i dont think its possible.

I dont think so. Do we fight like our dad? maybe not because we have different experience, so i believe its experience when it comes to war.:)

I think if they wanted a dog to have a certain style, its much harder to breed for that than to teach it, They could have just rolled a dog into a head dog (if thats what they wanted). After a few times of that im sure they might start to pick up the style, Just MHO.

Ugh maby but there has been times where certiine qwerqs could be passed on concistantly weather breed for or not like the way some familys of dogs show their teeth as if to smile or wheen the dog just plain flatfoot jumps in the air so I think tha out of a litter of ten maby 4 would be hardwired head dogs, three would be mixed styls and can swap it out,the other 3 three is a crap shot, this is if the whole litter showed good but i think it could have been done just like a pointer points selective breeding
