Dog Fighting Video—45 Dogs Seized in Alabama Bust

On Monday, June 1, a dog fighting operation in Randolph County was raided by the state's 5th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force. The ASPCA dispatched forensic veterinarian, Dr. Melinda Merck, and our Mobile Animal Crime Scene Investigation Unit to collect evidence in the investigation and aid in the prosecution of the case.

Dr. Merck examined 45 dogs who were discovered tied to heavy chains and living in deplorable conditions on the two properties. She also examined partially buried skeletal remains of a dog found on site. In addition, controlled substances, illicit drugs and other paraphernalia related to dog fighting have been collected into evidence.

"These dogs definitely suffered abuse and inhumane treatment at the hands of dog fighters," said Dr. Merck, Senior Director of Veterinary Forensics for the ASPCA. "So far, we've seen that one is unable to walk, another that is limping, and many that are injured, some severely."

Yeah I actually saw the vid too, the dogs in the yard looked in pretty good shape and they did not mind the people all in their face which means they were not abused and they also had no human agression. At the end of the video they showed a black dog with tons of scars on the face and some deep wound scars on its legs and I think it could barely walk. Nonetheless, I feel bad for those dogs because they looked healthy and happy wagging their tails. Marty they just went in there and killed them all?

While watching the video, I was thinking the same thing. Those dogs all looked happy to me. And showing no sign of HA either.

I can't say I agree with this because I did see that black dog had something wrong with hits leg/foot. I couldn't say it if was broken but he was nursing it.

I don't keep my dog on a chain but If I had to compare those dogs to your dogs I would say the dogs in the video were lacking something. Your dogs look alot healthier to me. I wouldn't say they were fought but I think they needed a little more TLC.

I obviously agree with you that killing the dogs is F**king rediculas.

notice they only found one dog that was not in good shape and that was the one the kept showing and they would just real quick show the others :mad:

Because, as they would say, "They have been trained to fight and they can't be rehabilitated. It would be too much of a liability to place a fighting dog in a regular home."

that's a crock of sh*t. these people should be on the special bus. anyone can see those dogs were happy and healthy. it's time to band together and take these b**tards down. yeah that one dog looked injured, but dogs get hurt all the time. it's not like he was curled in a ball in the corner and snapping at people. what we need are better lawyers to fight this sh*t, and lots more lawsuits. i'm going to school for radiology right now, but i'm seriously considering changing my major. if i can make it to be a lawyer i'll dedicate all my time to fighting this bs and suing the crap outta those psychos for every little thing they do. i'm in the mood to fight, and i think aspca, hsus, peta, and all those other evil pr*cks need to be taken down.

I also failed to see the malnurished and abused dogs. Those dogs looked in better shape than some of the indoors dogs around my area. Yes that black dog seemed to need medical attention for his leg but nobody knows the backstory so who are we to make assumptions.
It's a sin that these dogs are probably end up dead simply for the type of breed they are.

I can't view the video so I don't know what it is showing but is it possible the dog was injured when AC put it in a crate with the chain and rolled the crate?

seems to me all those "rescue people" need more "RESCUEING" than the dogs. i wish i could just go to their house and "RESCUE" them too!!

How the hell do they let the ASPCA inspect the dogs.... Why not pick a vet out of the phonebook who can evaluate these dogs and give an unbiased opinion..
And bostonbully if you ever owned a bulldog you would know that shit happens and sometimes all of your dogs will not be 100%. Hell, I got a dog with a limp right now and I'm "nursing" it with him...
