okay, so here's some pics the wife snapped today of aubrey.

she'll be 3 in sept. and when i weighed her this morning she was 37 lbs. i personally feel she could lose at least one, maybe 1.5 more lbs (has a bit of a stomach yet and only god knows how much water weight).

i use a combination of hand-walking and flirt pole. she's been eating innova evo since she turned 18 months old....talk about breaking the wallet. she gets a few added things to her food each week on top of that.

we just started a concentrated work-out may 17th...so two weeks now? she don't look half bad, and it's starting to take a lot to see her start to get winded, which is a good thing, right? ;)

i'm open to any and all criticisms.

    thanks for your comments.

I wouldn't take any weight off but just tighten up her stomach. Depending on what you want the conditioning for. I see too many dogs that are more emaciated than conditioned. What are you conditioning her for?

She look's good! Just tighten up her mid section a bit. The flirtpole work should take care of that though.

Turnup greens, and fishing pole, get a toy (of some sort) tie it to the end of the line and play keep away..

Same principle as flit pole but you can change directions a lot faster working her sides, also slow uphill pulling.

i'm trying out a workout this first time around and see how it works for me and her.

there's about a dozen i'd like to try, but this dog is my "trial and error" dog. i'm going to try different workout programs and then depending on what works best for me and her, go through what i put together with a different feed keep or two.

don't plan on doing any conformation shows or anything, just for my own personal growth experience.

she's already fixed and will forever have a spot on my couch as long as she's breathing just because she's been the best teacher about this breed i've ever had and will always have a place in my heart. she's proved her worth to me and that's all i can ask for from her. (edit - if you couldn't figure, i don't plan on breeding or even thinking about it, b/c there's too many ppl that can put out bulldogs i don't need to be polluting any gene pool)

so long answer short, i'm conditioning her to learn what to do and not to do.

i have a 10 ft. pvc pipe with a 20 ft rope through it with some deer hide on the end. it's an endless game when we play it....i just let her get it to reward her, and it helps me and the wife get good of breaking her off of it (you can never have enough break stick practice, jic).

Looks like you need to dry her out a bit to let those muscles pop.

Just wondering if you do any type of long-distance endurance training with her?

In my opinion, your doing just fine!! If your only two weeks in, then she's looking really good considering its your first time. If you keep doing what your doing then in another 6 weeks she'll be just right.

P.S. Don't get caught up with the super high protein foods
super high amounts aren't always good for the dogs kidneys.JMO

    don't plan to this time.

it's in the back of my mind though. i can run several miles at a time at a good clip, but don't want to screw her up. start easy, then go hard. :)

i like to do flirt pole work in sugar sand. after working them on the flirt pole in sugar sand for a couple weeks, try working them on solid ground again. it will be like a whole new beast.

I think she looks really good for only two weeks of work. Personally I would add a few minutes of drag weight to her workout routine (if you have a weightpull harness that is) and increase the distance of your walks. I am looking forward to seeing more progress pics.
