cool down before feeding?

i'm getting conflicting opinions regarding feeding the dog after training

one says leave the dog for 30 minutes to an hour before feeding, the other says that the faster you feed after training the better.

i'd like to hear opinions on this, especialy if you have done both at times.

 

i feed em after i rubbed them down when trained.

It is best to wait until the dog breathes normally. If you have done a good work out, it will take about 30-45 minutes for your dog to stop breathing heavily. So what? if a dog eats or drinks right after, they will also be taking in a lot of air which will make them bloat (to say the least).

Umm...I disagree with the above: Complete the workout. rub the dog down for 10-15 minutes. pushing the 'old' blood out of the muscle tissue, allowing the 'new' oxygenated/nutrient carrying blood to the muscle. the body will replenish from here. do nothing and the body will replenish from itself...supplement now and the body will assimilate a higher percentage of what you put in. miss this thirty minute window and they piss and s**t a large percentage of what you supplement.

I would wait 45 mins after a workout to give a full feeding however if i am using a supplement i will give it in some water first within 30 mins of exercise.

 

Ya, i meant supplement in the 30 min window- rf-1 or vertex at that point, actual feeding is done around an hour to 2 later.

 

I feed the dog as soon as he stops panting and his tongue is in. After the cool-down walk and message he usually stops panting by then....I also use a plastic spray bottle filled with water to spray his mouth just to give him a little water and wet his mouth....helps alot with the cool-down process! But give or take after 15-30 min for me!
