I crate my dog while I'm at work, but I bought the biggest crate at the farm store. She can turn around and stand up without squeezing. Does anyone else crate? Even if I didn't crate I wouldn't leave my dog outside all year round. Low here was -11 this year. That'll give you a chill.

40: I am sure everyone (atleast w/ inside dogs) uses crates to some degree. If you leave, not that I am saying you do, 2 'pits' alone you're going to come home to a mess. It may not happen today or tomorrow, but you're asking for it.

Responsible owners crate and rotate (if inside)

I have 3 dogs and for some reason, I have 9 crates. 3 in the basement, 2 in the trailblazer, 2 in my room and 2 on the back porch.

    Hope this helped

I crate...it's the only way I can get away with having six dogs. No way to leave them outside all them time with my neighbors. Crate and rotate keeps everyone happy.

I only have one and I still crate. I crate when I go out and I crate at night. I too own a large crate. I will probably crate the dog his entire life. He loves his crate so much that when bed time comes around he runs into the thing and lays down.

I crated until the dog was about one to keep her out of trouble. Now shes isnt left for long periods usually only a couple hours a day. One of the reasons I like leaving her out is because even though she isnt a real guard dog if someone comes up to the house she will be right there barking which is gonna keep most people away which is important because there have been a lot of robberies lately with the economy being shit so this is a added bonus of keeping the dog out.

Helena has been crate trained since a pup. When we are away and we know it's going to be for more than a few hours I will leave her out in the bedroom so she has access to her water and she can lounge on the bed and have more room to move around. The crate comes in handy when we have a lot of people over and she's being an attention whore. And at night, it's rare for her to share our bed.. all I have to do is say "Helena bed time and she knows that means its crate time... she goes in lays down before I even close the door.

I have 15 dogs. Not all of them pitbulls, only 8 and wew crate and rotate. One yard with a 7 ft fence. I can turn my male pits out with any of my mutt dogs except for one. He isn't aggressive, just not properly socialized and a rescue. Females go out alone.
When we leave, I always put 2 mutts outside. Never a pit. Just in case one of them gets out of the fence somehow.
I have 4 inside that aren't crated. They are older and don't chew or look for trouble. Different rooms of course.

I think crate training is a must..lol All of my dogs are crate trained, whether they are outside or inside dogs. I hit alot of shows and don't want or need a dog that freaks out in the crate..lol

My old house dog, who I lost in Jan, would go get in the crate every morning when I'd put on my shoes..lol He was such a good dog, I never had to tell him to get in his crate. He'd do that just about any time I put shoes on, it was his signal..lol :(

I feel crate training is important, even if you don't use it daily. Dogs are crated at weight pulls and dog shows regularly. Also, it makes potty training so much easier.

I am looking right now for the best crates possible. I have some wire (which I hate), some plastic (which are okay). I am looking for strong, portable crates with enough space for a dog to be comfortable (30-55lb dogs). I was thinking, maybe some of you have suggestions on ones you like and don't like.

I am trying to upgrade my crates, 6 of them. I feel like the ones I have are worn out and really don't want to continue using them especially for the outdoor events. I am not so confident they will hold if they ever need to.

I was thinking metal crates. . but the cheapest I found was more than $400.00. That's a pretty penny for 6 crates.

    Any help?

I crate Lua while I'm at school, but I do have a tie out for good days. I have an XL crate, she really only needs half. She's 40 lbs, tons of room. The Chihuahua gets free roam for the most part, sometimes vice versa.
