Claymore: Do a search on EVO. It will give you TONS of results........

It's a 'controversial' food for one reason: HIGH PROTIEN.

Some people swear by it and others will say it will ruin your dog's kindeys due to high protein levels. Each to their own. From what I learned, unless you're working a dog's ass, big time, probably the regular INNOVA will be sufficent.........Do a search and you'll be reading for hours....

I started adding water and her urine looks more clear, so I think she is getting better hydrated. She barely has to drink water now.

I started adding water till the kibble floats just a little, so that it's like a 50/50 water food mix.

I feed EVO, my dog doesn't seem to drink anymore or less water. I usually refill her bowl once a day or every other day. I would notice how much she's drinking.

She's dropped weight and built muscle off the food. I thought I was doing good by her to give her a mostly protein diet. Since dogs are naturally carnivorous and would only eat meat... so that would mean.. protein. My dog isn't too active though. We go on walks and bike rides a few times a week, that keeps her happy, she's not too active in the house, we play a lot though.

Should I just feed regular Innova, she really liked that too.

I feed evo and also put some water in it and my girl loves it. This winter she hasn't had a lot of work and she has kept pretty much all her muscle mass and has not gained much weight which is nice considering all she does most days is sleep on the couch.

tried it a while ago, dogs couldn't adjust to the kibble, horrible diahrea (sp?) and the dogs would puke it back up every once in a while, gave it about 1.5 months then switched. But now im on a raw diet and i must say its by far the best way to feed dogs by far, there's no kibble in the world that will ever compare to raw.

I would do raw... but it seems complicated to me and messy. Hell I had dogs growing up that lived into their teen years on kibbles and bits, ol roy, purina dog chow. Those were all mutts, which I hear are more hardy than purebreds. I had an AKC dalmation growing up... parents fed Ol Roy, he lived to be 6, got really sick and my parents had to have him put down. The vet told us it was probably the food.

Since I've been educated on dog foods and know whats good and bad for a dog it just makes me want to feed my dog something better than those foods that are all fillers and by products. Plus I've heard the healthier I kept my dog the less flare ups she would have from her demodectic mange. Which is in remission, but she broke out with a pretty bad staff infection after her ACL surgery, she did it on the opposite leg.

Shit, she eats better than we do... living off ramon noodles, tv dinners, hamburger helper... but I spend 30 bucks on a 13 lb bag of dog food. But hey it lasts a month or more and she eats half of what she did in a day. So it equals out, and it's only 5 more bucks than I was paying for a 18lb bag of Premium Edge.. feeding 3 cups a day.. now 1 1/2 cups a day. And she gained muscle and dropped weight... she's looking great, has built muscle in her back legs, front forearms, and a nice tuck.

its funny with dogs because what works for one dog may not work for others, i've heard of some old time dogmen that swore on purina pro plan, which if u were into dog nutrition u would never look at it.

Just to give u a heads up feeding raw is not as complicated as people believe, there's a difference between feeding raw and the barf diet, i choose raw because its like feeding a wild diet basically just chicken backs and a few other meats. Barf is very complicated and i wouldn't suggest it for everyone, however i do suggest everyone try raw atleast once, u might like it and if ur only feeding a few dogs it will be much cheaper than kibble

  16. The easiest way to start feeding raw is to alternate days of quality kibble like Evo or Orijen, with days of raw meaty bones, stuff like chicken quarters, chicken frames, lamb necks, pork rib etc. This often helps people stop worrying that their dog is missing out on any nutrients.Keeps their teeth clean too!

For an adult dog I'd start feeding the raw at 2-3% of b/w and adjust from there.
For example a 15kg/33lb dog would get between 300g and 450g per day depending on activity.Really easy!

Really I don't know where to find those parts of the chicken... I let her eat a raw drumstick one night.. took her about 15 minutes of licking it... then finally about 5 minutes to chomp it down. I haven't done it since. I like the convenience of scooping up a measured out cup of dog food and putting it in her bowl.

  18. Any butcher worth a damn would have most of those cuts.I'm in Australia so not sure of your supermarkets over there but even most of our big chain supermarkets like Coles and Woolworths sell all of them.I've read on other forums of people in the US getting awesome prices for chicken quarters, like 50c-$1 per lb and $1 per lb for pork ribs which would make it a pretty economical way of feeding raw.

  19. So do I,especially when cutting weight. That's why I feed a combination of raw and Evo.The main problems with kibble, even the good stuff, is it does nothing for their teeth, raw meaty bones do a great job of cleaning the dogs teeth as they eat. Most dogs also love eating them.
Kibble also lacks the mental stimulation that a dog gets from tucking into a big juicy bone.I give my boy a nice big lamb shank once a week, takes him about 20-30 minutes to eat and his jaws and neck get a real workout stripping all the meat off the bone.

Well also, I live in an apartment so I can't really let her eat a big meaty bone outside. That might disturb some of my neighbors.. lol "omg it's a pit bull and it's eating raw meat!"
