breeding ?

Discussion in 'APBT Bloodlines' started by monsterVili, Dec 12, 2008.

  1. i've heard or read some where that if you breed two studs to a female that some pups will come from one and that you have chance that some will come from the other.....is this true?

reason i ask is i want to bred my male to do a line-breeding but my buddy as a bad ass male i want to breed to also. space is an issue. just curious if its worth the money to get the blood test to find out who's is who's than after that (if its possible) will i even be able to paper them correctly? i have the space for a litter of six

WTF I believe that is gentically impossible.

...and you are wanting to breed because..... ?

I would not even considering breeding based on what you typed. space or no space bad idea.

yes this is true, for sure more then one male can "get" the female, puppies can be mixed by more then one male as the dad. I have seen this one a lot of times.

Yep It's true. If she has six partners and six pups, they could all be a "daddy."

I was wondering this too i herd some one talking bout it but I know nothing so I kept my mouth shut. this is really posible..... What would be the purpose for this:confused:? Seems like it's just extra work for nothing (figuring whos pups is whos). For some reason it seems like it would be risky. Why not just wait and have the second breeding at a later date? Whats the rush ?

This is true. It is called a dual sired litter. You will need the parents DNA profiled in order to distinguish the sire of each pup:)

It is possible but parents and pups need to all be DNA'd and there is no guarantee both sires will father a pup. Too much of an expense if not done for the right reasons and space is not one of them.

It's not only "worth the money" to have then DNAed afterwards, you really would need to. Because if you don't, you're registering/selling those pups falsely since you don't know which daddy sired which pup. Yes, dual-sired litters are possible. It's technically possible for a female to breed with 10 different studs and have a litter of 10, with each stud siring a different puppy.

We BYBed a litter many years ago where the female was bred 3 times to her intended stud, and once accidentally to the wrong stud. 8 of the pups ended up being sired by the accidental stud (it was easy to tell, since he was an Akita, and the other two dogs were APBTs), and 2 by the intended stud. Just goes to show you how some things work out, and how you don't necessarily get an evenly-split litter. Some people will do dual-sired litters because they want to use two different studs without making the female go through the strain of two separate litters. Especially if she's an older girl and doesn't have a lot of breeding years left in her.

  10. thanks everyone for the response

why am i breeding ain't really none of your business, but it ain't for looks or money just asked this question to see if it's possible as i know some people are educated on genetics here and could tell me if was possible or just a myth wasn't asking permission

We kept one. Rest were given away or sold. Like I said, it was a BYB litter. :o I think I was 14.

There's no reason for you to get defensive. Considering you're asking a fairly newbie question, it's reasonable that others would have concerns regarding your reason for breeding right now.

DNA kits are about $35 this link is from the akc but you can get them many places on the net.

Don't like ACK here is the UKC link

Currently I know of a female that was breed to different males and they are in the process of collecting DNA. It's a good way to breed if you have a female that is older or just don't want to wait, or over breed your bitch.
I don't think I would do it all the time because it's a pain, but it is a common practice with some breeders.

Bro breed to one male.. F that way think like this you may get 6 great pups off that male. or 6 currs thats what it is ,Dont try that two dog crap. PICK one breed her keep all and see. This aint a easy game if it was every one would have ace's. Do it right and be a dog man dont try that slide of the hands PLAYER PLAYER shit. J

lol , u right it none of my business Jack , especially considering that situation.

even i knew that!!! and i'm rookie to the pitbull world.

i' the last person that d'like to discourage anyone from posting, and i'm new here, but i cant help wondering why someone with the lack of knowledge you obviously have wants to breed?

dont you think that the pitbull race is already screwd enough?

wanna make ur own line or something??? ;)

It's a fairly common practice even the Great Floyd Boudreux has dbl sired litters... It's not a big deal IMO

In theory if you had a red/red bitch and bred her to a red/red male and bred her to a blk male with no red/red in his blood the pups will tell you who's the sire, the red/red pups would be by the red/red male and the pups with a black nose color would be by the other stud.
