Starting a new thread... my daily rant

Interesting that you should mention her. She was actually the first one to turn the thread into personal attacks by trying to offhandledly call GSDBulldog pathetic. Truly ironic that a hot-blooded, gamedog-lovin' teenager conducted herself with more finesse and and sensibility than the resident super-trainer and sticky-monger.

I will not bash PBF at large, because that would be hypocritical of me. I've been on that board for almost 5 years, and this one for (now that I've read my own post) 3. PBF is a good board, just tuned a little differently than Game-Dog. There are things over here that don't fly over there, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I can understand the situation from the viewpoint of a participant as well as someone who has modded for both boards. When things start getting heated and degenerating into a cesspool of slinging, sometimes damage control is all you can do. Sometimes you have to throw out posts you fundamentally agree with, simply because the person typing them couldn't keep their temper in check. It's a high-volume board where you can't let things continue to spiral out of control.

So. While I do think there are a few resident experts over yonder that could use culling, I also understand how some from the "other side" came off very brash and rude. Would I have locked both posts that have been posted in this thread? Most likely. One because I'm assuming it got quite bad (I didn't see some of it), and the other because it was hot on the heels of the first and was a continuation of the same. That is not a reflection of how I feel about any one person. It is simply an opinion based on my experience as a mod, as well as a member of more boards than I care to admit.

In all seriousness, I don't think this thread is entirely fair. There are people who enjoy both boards, as has been said. It is not right to bash an entire board because of a disagreement with a moderator, or a thread, or certain people, or even because the general "feel" of a board does not mesh with your own ideals. It'd be like someone saying "I hate that damn Game-Dog because they have that cur-loving Bahamutt as a moderator over there. What a worthless board." Or better yet, a sweater-wearing petbull owner coming over here and saying "That Game-Dog only has use for dog fighters and drunks" because their interests lie elsewhere. Two different boards, two different mission statements, but both have use and value.

Now excuse me while I grab my flame-retardant jacket. LOL

I thought your closing remarks on the locked thread were pretty clear, it appears you are on the right side and that is on the side that is against the HSUS. I just wish more people could see what happened to PP as an injustice act against his constitutional rights. I do not care what his past consists of either, he was not committing a crime in present times when he got his yard raided. To me that is a huge violation against his rights and everyone else needs to see it that way too cause that is exactly how it is.....a violation of his constitutional rights.

I understand your position as a mod as I too have that task so I feel for you. I appreciate your tolerance...you did let it go on despite knowing how it was going to end so I commend you for giving it a chance.

No its not fair but then again accusing an innocent man of still being guilty after he was acquitted isn't exactly fair either especially coming from people who should have been on his side to begin with.

I do not like bashing PBF, I do enjoy posting there. It does get tiresome at times having the same arguements but I feel that If I can change the mind of one person per thread I participate in then it was all worth it. There is no question that it is an uphill battle and some people will just never get it but we cannot give up cause the members at PBF own Pit Bulls too, and just remember.......we are only as strong as our weakest link.


P.S. I mentioned Reds name again...so someone needs to tell her.

PBF is one of the first boards I joined on the net, way back in the Jessup days, lol.

The thing people aren't getting is that it doesn't take 100 dogs - they are coming after us with 10, 6, or even 4.
People don't think of them as dogs - they are furry people and you should not have more than will fit on your couch at any one time.

 

Good lord, I should have stuck to one then! Have you seen how much room little Ms. Luna takes up on the couch?! I'm lucky if I even HAVE a spot with her there!

As to HSUS, they've had a go several times at American Bulldog owners for hog catching. One man, Art Parker, was arrested and found innocent, I believe on 2 seperate occasions. Dogs were confiscated, Art was imprisoned, and it cost thousands of dollars. Good old John Goodwin was behind it. I believe HSUS has found that they get much better press going after dog fighters.

 

Damn, from all the pages and posts, this thread seems important to the members here. I do not believe to have ever posted there. I wonder if they even allow me there since my beliefs are pretty clear and my posts are even clearer.

I am also concern and would like to know who owns this site. I do not want to go registering and find out it is "fly paper". Otherwise, I believe to be able to manage addressing debatable points without personal attacks or profanity.:cool:

How close is this forum to Jessup and the "unchain dogs" type organizations? how about groups looking to reinforce BSL under the guise of "rescue" organizations?

I might need a volunteer to post on my behalf there.:o They want unchained dogs, let me at them....grrrr...lol

 

The site is owned (I believe) by a graphic-designer, Ariel Payopay, who lives in WA state. He rarely posts, though.

Jessup, ironically, was banned from the forum a few years ago.

Overall, there is a wide array of members floating around- many folks echo the beliefs held by the members of Game-Dog. However, often times it's the opposition that speaks the loudest.

Yeah, that's Ariel. He's a cool guy. He made one of my favorite weight pull vids on YouTube. And he's got some neat galleries of show and pull pictures up in a sub-forum on PBF.

As for PBF itself, it is "rescue-oriented," but not affiliated with any of the animal rights extremist groups. (I'm not saying that none of the members are affiliated.) There is a more pet-oriented feel, but generally speaking, there is also appreciation for responsible breeders, ADBA showers and the like. For example, most posters over there flat-out adore Scratchin Dog's Angus and Marty's Lil Bit. They also fawn over Dtwo's dogs, and so on. Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, like the few who will comment about Marty's dogs being chained, or Angus being "too skinny," but they are a vocal (or sometimes just newbie) minority.

 

First off let me say I like the fact I can use the word fuck without it being censored.

I am a member of that "Edited for language" forum and I take offense to what you stated. Not ALL of us should be painted with the same brush. I happen to find it disgusting PP's dogs were destroyed. To me, it doesn't make a shits difference if they found him guilty because the HSUS did not have the right to come in and confiscate his animals. In my eyes, what they did to those dogs was genecide. Raiding his place and wiping out a foundation of dogs merely based on what the HSUS thought was right, is abominable.

My eyes are wide open to the fact that my dogs could be next. Considering I live in a big city, I am totally paranoid and don't trust anyone. For those people that are in denial and can't accept the fact it could happen to them next, wake up and smell the coffee! I posted on the other forum that I was accused of fighting my dogs and hanging one of my dogs from a tree. What a sad world we live in.

As for keeping dogs tied up outside, I guarantee you if I lived in an area that was isolated with plenty of land, my dogs would be outside a lot more. Unfortunately, where I live, that can't happen and I choose to protect my dogs from sick individuals who would like nothing more but to hurt my dogs based on the fact they are pit bulls.

Leslie , I am sorry for treating you as the enemy when clearly your actions were far from it. I see that you are one individual and I should not have lumped you into any particular group. Your goal is the same as ours and I should not have said or treated you the way I did and I am very sorry that I did. I hope we can move beyond this and maybe you will think more of me in the future than what you possibly do right now. I know I said some stuff that was mean spirited and again I apologize for my moment of weakness.

I am truly sorry for my actions on that site, I just couldn't understand some of the post on there bashing these people :o

Is this worded wrong or are you coming out and saying the breed is what the media claims it to be, "man biters"? Or are you just saying they're a working breed and not home bodied pets?

 

From what I know of Simms he is saying exactly that.......these dogs are not meant for everyone. They are dogs and are not nor really is any dog meant to be treated as little fur kids. So yes Simms is saying they are more of a working breed and not home bodied pets.

like i said before laws and regulations only hurt the honest man,,, not the ones out in back alley's or basements. we fight to save out dogs at all cost. WE all know how the media paints gruesome pictures about how the dogs was treated and what they speculate they did with them,
Instead of them going after the ones doing bad things they slap everyone who owns one with all these laws,,, Now what did they help? the ones doing wrong doings couldn't care less,and if a lab owner had to deal with all these regulations they would be fussing also,, because its just not right for law biding folks to be punished when they have done nothing wrong,,, but thats not how the HSUS see's it
