I want to buy a harness .. but hes growing so fast

Im getting the bug to start conditioning my pup diesel but im worried about buying a harness and then have him grow out of it in 2 months. Hes 4 months right now .. and hes already got a great build. Hes a product of 2 pure bred pits but i have no pedigree or any background on either. I dont know what his genetics are but i do know that hes pretty cut for a pup and he loves to tug. I have a walking harness for him and hes great on a leash but hes strong too and digs hard when he wants to. Hes about 25lbs ish right now (been a couple weeks since he was weighed last) im worried if i spend roughly $70 for a nice weight harness that hes gonna out grow it within a couple months and im gonna have to buy another one as he grows. At the same time i dont want to wait too long and have him grow up and have to try and condition a dog thats had no training as a pup.

Am i right to be worried? Any thing i should be thinking about instead or ideas as to what kind of guidance or path i should take with him? Hes my first pitty and from what ive seen online hes not fat.. but hes not the leanest either .. he has great muscle tone and a broad chest and i think he could do really well and have great muscle mass.

    Thanks,
    Luke

Let him be a pup...he's not ready for conditioning yet.

I don't start any conditioning until a dog is a year old, even then I take it easy in the beginning and gradually increase the workload.

I agree^^^^Too early. Just enjoy him. Do other things like walking and doing inclines to help build him up without him even knowing it. ;)

I agree with Onionhead... I would love to see him... You should give him time for his body to fully develop. I have heard this plenty and am also following the same instructions myself. :D

Thats just it he doesnt need any working out , exept for his normal playing , running, whining,etc..is all plenty for a pup. Let a pup be a pup

as long as you have him on a good feed you don't have to worry about him having alot of fat to get rid of when he matures. Just walk him and feed him thats all he needs now.

LUKE: He is a cute pup, I love his little face. Fetch, walking, etc is fine for now.

You think Luke could do a little (real lite, short time frames) of flirt pole. Something small, just getting him to chase it around? Or is it too early for his pup?

    I agree with everyone else.

I personally don't like to see weight-dragging used as the form of exercise when the dog is just out for exercise getting to just be a dog and enjoying himself.

I don't see weight-dragging as "fun" for a dog in the sense that going for a walk, swim, going after a ball, springpole, etc is. There is some force or compulsion to it in that the dog feels he HAS to do it and it is not as natural or, again, "fun" as the other activities.

The weight-dragging should be separate from the fun exercise and be made to be more of a "work" activity. Always let the dog have his fun exercise, never JUST weight-dragging as exercise. Not that the dog can't enjoy pulling, but it's not the same satisfaction for a dog as running and playing and other forms of exercise. In my opinion.

You wanna work him out. Just play with him chasing the flirt pole, chasin the ball even running after you. He's still a puppy let him be for now.

I think ill just work on having him run with me a little and just playing alot (helps wear him out too lol). Thanks for the comments.. ill just plan on next summer starting to work with him to see if he peaks any interest in it.

BTW the second picture is the leash dropped next to him.. hes not chained up in some junk yard like it appears in the pic haha

he does look great great but if you train to early you mess up his growth. especially on his legs cause pups have undeveloped gaps between bones and and if injured could take lot of work to fix or may not be able to fix. good though

couple more of bonehead being a goof .. for some reason he thinks its necessary to get all of his toys out so he remembers what he has. he plays with everything for like 3 minutes then rotates.. lol

Ill probably wait til hes like a year old or so to do any conditioning
