Boycott Verizon wireless!!!

Yeah, that one made me a bit mad as well, but at least, Dobermans actually are a guardian breed. Not saying it's right, though.
I don't have Verizon or Alltel, thankfully.

signed the petition. Oh and as for the doberman thing, while I don't like dogs being shown negatively if it is unsupported, the doberman was bred to be a guard dog. A doberman chasing a person off the premises is a doberman acting like a well bred doberman...doing it's job so to speak. The pitbull is not a guard dog, and the portrayal of it as such has led to fear and backlash against the breed by the general public. The difference is that it's fear based on lies. Also last time I checked BSL is erradicating dobermans. If it was I would stick up for them too because BSL is dumb, but one issue at a time folks.

 

You must not know a whole lot about the Dobie world. It is well-known that have there has been discrimination against Dobies for decades. Before the APBT was the public enemy number one, baby killer devil dog, the Doberman held that undubious distinction. And as a result they went through the exact same ignorant persecution the APBT is going through now.

The furor has abated since the public has focused on other breeds (the Rottie, then the APBT) but there is still a lot of ignorance & fear surrounding Dobermans. In fact, I even had an experinced APBT breeder tell me I needed to be careful around my Doberman b/c a Doberman's brain can grow too big for their skull causing them to turn on you & kill you (sounds familiar, eh?)! And this from an APBT person!!!

But back to my point - there IS some BSL against Dobermans. Dobermans are banned in some cities & communities. They are placed in a list of top 10 biting dogs & many home owners insurance will not insure you or will only insure you at an increased rate if you have a Doberman.

 

All three of the dogs in those two commercials look super friendly especially the black staffie and Doberman who chases the young men.

Big deal, those werent gamedogs anyway, they were cur bred mutts and the commercial has no value. Boycotting will get u nowhere fast and i can think of a million ways to do more for the breed than fighting with some damn cell company....

Until you re-evaluate what a APBT is in your mind commercials like that will always offend you... but when u see those dogs as BYB mutt cur bred dogs you wont even think pitbull when u see an ad like that...

Most people will think pitbull when they see it but real APBT owners wont because only gamebred dogs are really apbts....

So all the dogs like the ones in the commercial can be euthed for all i care it wont affect the preservation of the breed i own because they arent the same...

 

You're right dog men might not see those dogs as apbts but the general public does, and guess what, it is the general public that votes and it is the general public that passes BSL, and when it passes it won't matter what your dog looks like, if it looks kind of apbt it will be seized. So go ahead and not care what the public thinks about those dogs but remember that it ain't like the old days where you could say think what you want but stay the hell out of my yard. Sadly, those days are over, and public opinion, will be knocking shortly. So do nothing if you please but I will stand up for the breed and try to educate the public with the facts everytime I get the chance.

But Abk they will not come to your house and take your dobermans put them to sleep. Lock your a$$ up and put you on the news talk about how bad you are Just for lovin your dogs. They will do that to us and if you dont think we live in a close minded world I got a real good deal on some winning lotto numbers for ya. people all ready think our dogs are mean they dont know we allways try and make them better and they are just teddy bears to people. The difference to me in the two commercials is that the Alltel one shows the dog just sitting there looking cute, then the guy says "aww puppy!" and then the dog chases them. The dog was used to chase the people off.
In the verizon one, pit bulls are portrayed as junk yard dogs, that are chained up, and lunging at the kid. They are shown to be "bad ass" and to "dare" to go near them to get the phone.
It was portrayed as daring to go near pit bulls. And I've heard/read some people say that they are viscious because they are chained up. So now, there are two more things the public sees everyday on national tv. That pit bulls are mean, and that chained pit bulls are even meaner.

When I see it, I see two happy dogs just lying there. They are wagging their tails, and I don't even think it was them growling, it was probably a voice over (or whatever you call it).

But it doesn't matter how you or I see it. It's how my neighbors and your neighbors and everyone else who's never known the true love of an APBT see it.

But again, like I said, it's all a matter of opinion. If it doesn't bother you that this commercial feeds into the hype, so be it. You do you, I'll keep doing me. Fighting any and all forms of BSL and lies about my breed.

 

watch the name calling, i wouldnt call u a moron so before you throw names out know who your talking too...., trust me those dogs arent game bred dogs i dont need a ped to distinguish it,...I been fighting BSL longer than a lot of this new generation has owned APBTs and I can guarantee boycotting the commercial will not change what joe public thinks... that is my point,... people see cropped ears and muscles and think APBT automatically no matter what the dog really is...so boycott all you want and fight whoever you want but what you should really be doing is investing that energy into hiding your dogs from joe public not fighting him to see the difference.... between the dogs in the commercial and real gamedogs there is no difference to joe public... so why try to convince the public there is...I gave up years ago trying to do that and found it was a lot easier to secure my dogs and put them somewhere than convincing someone to see my POV......
if you want to debate the issue with me the do so but dont ever call me out by belittling me again with name calling thats the worst choice you could make....

 

Finally somebody who is living in the real world...

I love my dogs, i love all the bully breeds and i hate what has been happening to their reputation. However, attempting to initiate a boycott is just silly on so many levels. The fact that some of you are completely serious about this fruitless endeavor is seriously hilarious. Furthermore, now somebody at Verizon is going to have to take time out of his busy schedule to open and maybe even read your ridiculous letters which will just end up in the recycling bin (Verizon, like many other fortune 500 companies, is going green).

I've met so many bleeding heart SPCA volunteers and PETA activists who add to the problem by being completely irrational.

Your dogs would be embarrased if they knew all the whining you were doing on their behalf.

 

I agree that its just a commercial BUT it still shines a bad light on the breed. Not everyone is as enlightened about bulldogs as we are. I wouldnt say boycott them, but let them know that what they've done offends people who are trying to save the breed.

it's the MAJORITY that will view these dogs as yeah, the generic "pit bull", "game dog" :rolleyes: or not.
once the "pit bull" gets banned, it won't matter if your dog is 'game' or not!
