Can anyone tell me if this is true? I heard from a person in VA that Animal Control has been wondering around and checking up on people that has pitbulls to make sure that they have their shots (vet records of updated shots). And if you can't provide them with a record from the vet, AC takes your dogs and keeps them overnight. Now, in order to get your dogs back you must pay the overnight fee and for the vaccinations. Any truth to this?

I know a lot of people give their own vaccinations :D

. If you vaccinate your own animal for rabies, state public health and law enforcement officials do not recognize your vaccination as valid. You and the animal will be treated as if NO rabies vaccine was administered. To be recognized as a legal and valid vaccination, Rabies vaccine must be administered by a currently licensed veterinarian in accordance with established state protocol.

as far as i know this only pertains to the rabies vacc.
might aswell pony up the $50 or so every 2 years to be on the up and up. i know my st.francis terriers are ;)
