I think some pics of dogs with kids, elderly, fam. etc. Also a monthly spotlight on the dogs in rescue shelters and the areas of where they are killed jus because they are banned or dont have an adopt out policy. And the prejudice we receive cause we own such fine animals, cause it dont matter if your black, grey, or white we fit in one catagory pitbull owners.

Well to pay the bills the mag would have to be available to anybody who has the price to buy it. And a good mag w/ good pics is going to be at least 7 or 8 dollars.

Now the mag would have several statements making it clear that no dogs are for, and the mag is not for the breaking of any laws. If breeders advertised, they would be screened. Most good dog men are very selective who they talk to, let alone sell dogs to anyway and we would be very insistent upon that tradition.

Heck when my dog, Fargo died last year it took many months of research, and talking on the phone to finally get myself into a position to get a couple of good pups. And that is the way it should be.

Any one who calls a dog man up and starts talking foolishly deserves to get hung up on. We have to keep paramount the following fact: Our breed is under attack! Our enemies will go to any lengths to kill our dogs and imprison their owners, never forget that. Thus positive portrayals, articles about responsible ownership, and BSL should also be emphasized.

I could already write a story about how my neighbor found a stray dog last year. We tried to get itr rescued but the pound told us in no uncertain terms that they would kill her since "she looked like a Pit Bull. We had to keep her in our homes (my 80 pound male tore a door and a wall apart as a result) to finally get her to a good home.

Quality articles contributed by those who have actually walked the walk. For example; if you do not have several generations of conformation champions from your own breeding, don't write an article on conformation and the handling of show dogs. If you have never conditioned and handled a dog in the box, don't talk about it. If all you have is a single dog with a WP1 title, don't write an article on weight pull training. If you have an overweight couch potatoe with an NA, OA, NAC...don't write an article about the sport of agility and training a dog for it. Point being, there are too few do'ers but never any shortage of say'ers on these forums. Pictures are nice to look at but if you want to produce a quality rag then you need to supply your readers with quality articles.

"we will never start a magazine." Actually, there are currently several rags around and as I'm sure you know through all of your internet experience, there have been more than just a few in the past as well. It wouldn't be hard to do so, the magazine creator would just have to get out there, make the right contacts and seek the best people for it which may take a little more time but the benefits would definitely be worth

I offered my skills as an editor...I was the editor of a foreign policy journal, grade about 500 papers a year and hold a PhD so that qualifies me to work as an editor. I have never matched a dog for money...but in case you noticed, it is illegal. I could edit stories written by people who have experience...however it would be necessary to make clear that we in no way condone the breaking of any laws.

Do you really think for a second that if someone was actively matching dogs, admited to matching dogs and edited a magazine that they would not be immediately clamped down on by the feds?

after all is said and done, i want this mag to be one of the one's that made a difference (in spite of...,). Someone mentioned the prejudice that we go through as pitbull owners. My first cover will be powerful and speak volumes because after all the articles, event results, photos, ect BSL is real and threatens the one thing most of us love.

I recently took my OFRN mnale to my sons baseball game and the look's that i got was crazy. It took the league owner (female) to come over and pet him so that folks could loosen up. All the while, a poodle was growling at every approaching person out there, but thats cute even though its the same aggression thought to be in our dogs.

Support will be grand but it's time for us to wake up and fight, without a magazine! My mission is to help make aware...,

  11. My advise to you is to not jump the gun. Your project is obviously in its prenatal stage and should only come to surface after you have completed a year's (or at least 4 magazines) subscription. This will give your subscribers a guaranteed year's worth in a timely matter. Remember that one can empty their ideas in a few issues. You will need much more time to put one together after the fever has subsided. It will be hard work to keep it informative and interesting at the same time.

    Good luck in your endeavor!
