You'd be surprised what kind of people they let in the military, but esp. the Army. This goes double fold when you're in a war & desperately seeking warm bodies for the front. We in the Air Force called that kind of scum "cannon fodder" b/c that's all they were good for.

Those people are sick. I would like to take one of them into a box and bash their heads into a bloody pulp... People like that really need help. That puppy was just helpless. God has a special place for people like that.

There are a lot of videos like that on one of those channels for the soldiers, I for get the name of it. They were even teaching the kids to say really bad words. I made a comment about it to someone I know in the millitary and his answer was, "They need a way to let off steam." I replied by saying, "then they need to punch a wall or something." So sick.

  7. Let me start by saying that I only watched the first video that was posted...

just FYI the guys in the first video were U.S. Marines. Your quote about the Army's recruiting may or may not be true, but that statement can not be justified be the video that you posted. This may be a small technicality to you, but just to set the record straight. These kids made a bad judgement call no doubt. Soldiers make bad judment calls as individuals as do Sailors, Airmen, and Marines.

Again with a Defense Department with as many service members, family members, Dod Civilians that serve honorably (probably to include these kids minus lapses in judgement) how can this be about interservice rivalries? That is total BS...it has nothing to do with Air Force vs Army (or Marines, etc.) It's about individuals with a lapse of judgement. Period. It is nothing to do with a lack of discipline, the morality of a society, or the pride of a service. Individuals...keep in mind these are American citizens that are going to be reintegrated into YOUR society. Better efforts would be spent figuring out the root of issues and seeking help as opposed making interservice snipes. Seriously, I don't think the US Air Force (regardless of your apparent superiority complex) is dealing as a whole with the issues of multiple 12-15 month rotations in Iraq, post traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, etc., etc. These issues (as I've seen three times first hand) compound when these guys are reintegrated into society. The real issue is not a puppy, but instead the idea of whether the guys bearing this burden can fully function at home when they return...not whether the Air Force has a better selection process. Obviously these individuals acting as psychopaths on film are not stable and can not function at home. Call them what you want, but our nations wars are decided by the 19 and 20 year olds privates that make contact daily with given populations worldwide be it combat or humanitarian. We can try to be productive and figure out was to make our strategic privates more effective (as the majority of them are!) or we can talk about who has better personnel. That is ridiculous IMO given the current joint state of affairs in theatre...

Take out all of the macho talk and I can agree with that...

  8. How about a search for videos showing the other million US military personnel rebuilding schools, transforming medical facilities, securing the streets in Iraq and Afghanistan like they've been doing since 2002(ish) as opposed to the links that you posted showing a minority of personnel making bad judgement calls? It would take about the same amount of effort...seems like I've seen posts from yourself (and others posting in this thread) about the ability for a minority to make life difficult for responsible owners and fanciers of the American Pit Bull Terrier. I view the posting and spreading of these videos in the same light. Millions of more individuals are tirelessly and selflessly giving of themselves at the same time...

And I agree with the fact that these videos are bad judgement calls just like the ones we see stateside of ppl setting dogs on fire or just starving them. But the fact that these men and women take oaths to better and serve, knowing that this kind of crap will be posted back in the states seems all the more reason they should think before they act retarded. I come from a military family, two brothers have served along with my daughter and son-in-law, and I support what they are doing as far as making life better for the civilians that want and need our help, but this clear act of violence should be dealt with whether they are military or civilians. It is uncalled for. They are there for a reason and I don't think it is to tease kids and torture animals. JMO

The military is a HUGE organization. And with any large organization, you're going to get some degenerates/psychopaths (ie. puppy thrower) that unfortunately slip through the cracks. And as mentioned above, sometimes people just make bad choices (ie. teaching kids foul language). I'm sure every human that ever lived long enough, has done something that he/she regrets. What I'm trying to say is you have to look at the whole picture. Take for example bulldog owners, plenty of good ones and just enough bad ones to ruin it for everybody.
Well, I just want to thank all the members of this board who are serving/served in the Armed Forces. I (along with millions of others) truly appreciate your service. God Bless all of you!! Your personal sacrifice is what makes this country great.
And as far as the "bad apples" are concerned, I'm sure the military will handle them appropriately.

  11. Screamin'eagle, if i have upset you for sharing these videos, I am sorry. Sounds like you are a military person that took offense to these videos. I agree, most of the individuals in the Arm Forces do not compare to those we have watched in those videos. Yet, how many of those "many" tend to excuse the actions of the few with assumptions that those actions were for relaxation (letting off steam)?

Only through public exposure can these types of doings be stopped. Peer to peer correction is rare and unlikely to develop into any diciplinary action. You all watch each other's backs.

Do we want to let our defenders act like savage representatives of our people?

I would assume you all had respect for the military. However "Bad mouthing" the "knuckle heads" is just as bad as bad mouthing the whole branch. I'm not in the Army I'm in the Marine Corps but the comments made about the Army's recruiting practices I found to be offensive. There are ignorant people that do jacked up stuff like this that are not in the military and earn a living other ways. Why is it such a big deal when someone in the military does it? I'm in no way defending those who have done these things. Noone ha mentioned the good that's being done by our sevice member as we speak.

And Speaking on the "Soldier" that threw the puppy off the cliff. I can't see the video because I'm at work. But if it was a lil black and white puppy and this is the vid that was on the news. That ass-hole was in the Marine Corps not the Army. So it would help if you are going to bash someone to have the facts straight.

It is true we do watch each others back. Thats what we have been tought. We are also tought to do whats right and have integrity. So if something is done that is wrong we are not supposed to allow it because it's our brother @ arms that did it. But just like with anything else people don't always do whats right. Those that serve are still human. They make dumb decisions like everyone else.

I appologize i was pretty amp'd up and my respoce came after only reading the first few post.

    I agree it's a "bitch" move.

  16. Agreed, and not at all should this be a representation of the US public, nor the US Armed Forces. Some of the initial comments just seemed a bit pointed (derogatory), and I just wanted to highlight what damaging acts a minority can cause if it wasn't already recognized...
