6 month old and a contained "pitbull' shot/killed

    :([IMG] Pit Bulls Killed

Local 12 has learned a Cincinnati Ohio landlord, who killed two pit bulls Sunday morning, will not be prosecuted.
It comes down to a call about "self defense".

In this developing story alert, Rich Jaffe finds police believe, even though one of the dogs was in a cage, Charles Sanders was protecting himself when he opened fire.

This morning, Dominic Thomas walked his pit bull, Tasha, right past the Harrison Avenue location where, yesterday morning, a landlord shot and killed two pit bulls.

Dominic Thomas, Pit Bull Owner: "A lot of people say they vicious and all that, but they ain't really like that for real..."

The six month old dog was shot first on the front porch of the home. The second dog, an adult, was in this cage when property owner Charles Sanders opened fire.

Rich Jaffe: "According to this police report, the situation began Sunday morning about ten o'clock when the woman who lives upstairs, Shana Stinson, came downstairs to take her garbage out. She told police she was chased around the house by a pit bull, belonging to the man who lives downstairs. She says that dog even chased her back into her own apartment, where she locked the door, and called for help."

Sgt Danita Kilgore, Cincinnati Police: "The landlord arrives on the scene, walking up the steps to the residence, one dog comes from the side of the porch, charges the landlord owner, who at that point, pulls out a firearm and shoots the dog."

The landlord tells police that even though the adult dog was in this cage, he was throwing himself against the cage so violently, Sanders was afraid it was going to get out and attack him.

"So, in his own defense, he fires two shots at the dog that's in the cage, turns around and the initial dog he had fired shots at, which was only wounded is now back at the scene and beginning to become aggressive again, he fires some additional shots at that dog..."

Police say Charles Sanders then turned to the dog in the cage and fired a final killing shot...Rich Jaffe, Local 12.

Police say a total of nine shots were fired at the dogs. The dog's owner, a man named Sanchez, didn't want to talk on camera, but tells us his dogs were not dangerous. He says his landlord had recently told him to get rid of one of the dogs, and he was planning to do so.

...(guess he doesn't have to now)
another person i guess  who feared for their life....:(

If those were my dogs there would be one other person who would be "fearing for his life" . I'd burn the phuckers house down with him in it.

It amazes me how people get away with this shit.

I once gave a pup to a friend ( a dog lover, but not a dogman) who raised the dog as a house dog..This dog was well trained, and raised with a mutt..Both got along great until the pup started to mature, and the dogs were involved in a scrap in the side yard..Neighbors called the police, and within 5min "Tank" was dead..He was shot with a 9mm and a 12 gauge because he "lunged at a officer" who was "afraid for his life"..

He was in hold (of the other dog who was also shot & killed) when he was shot..5 witnesses, and absolutley no justice..

I think we should arm our dogs with firearms so every time a pig walks by they can "fear for their lives" and shoot the bastards

Whare I'm from it is a well known fact that If you're pitbull gets loose there is a better chance than not that it will be shot. The police and the community are both a threat to a loose bulldog. The police are just trigger happy idiots and the community is fed up with irresponseable owners Damn near every dog you see where I'm from is a apbt. It is the cool thing to have. 90% of the apbt owners where I'm from are completely irresponsable And have No Bussness owning any dog let alone our fine breed. Damn Shame

Yep, irresponsible people have ruined it. And who knows, maybe the dogs had been getting out.. people do have the right to come and go from their residence without being hassled by dogs of any sort.. some people simply are not dog people and dont like even the friendly ones coming for attention. But that still doesnt justify a cage dog getting shot.. however I wonder why the dog was in a cage on the front porch??

But I do not see any other breeds getting shot immedietly ..and the irresponsible people only lead to situations like SPF described.. (the dogs getting shot part, not the yard accident..)

To shoot a caged dog though ? That doesn't sit well with me at all. I am not saying this clown wasn't afraid however I highly doubt a caged dog is a threat to anyone while it is caged. To me sounds like this asshole had it in for his tenants dog and took the pussys way out.

I hope this guy gets what is coming to him and I hope it is life altering. I cannot imagine the rage and anger I'd be in if it were one of my dogs. Landlord or not he had no right to take that dogs life while it was confined.

Re: 6 month old and a contained "pitbull' shot/killed

I'll have to be the odd man out & say there may be some premature judgments being made here. Here is why I think this:

    - Think of all the hundreds (if not thousands) of loose pit bull calls cops go to each year. Yet only a tiny percentage of dogs are shot. Heck, I can vouch for that myself. As a former "pig" who has gone to a loose pit bull call & NOT shot the dog.

    - We don't know what kind of dogs these were. They might have been some cur bred man-eaters or some of those monstrous mastiff mixes.

    - We don't know the shape the crate was in. If the crate was barely held together & the dog was slamming himself against it as stated, that crate may have been within a kitten's whisker of giving way. If someone is stupid enough to crate a dog on the front porch I doubt he would be smart enough to buy top-quality containment for it.

Finally as an OT side note, I'd like to add I hope anyone who thinks police officers are "pigs" would be kind enough to let your local departments know this. That was they won't waste their time on you when you call them for something.

I'm with ABK on this one, you guys weren't there to see what happened first hand. I do accept the possibility of the dogs being human friendly and being completely innocent. I also accept the possibility of the dogs being human aggressive. Either way justice will be served.
