Sadly, the poison from mold toxin is hits hard & often lethal. Death can occur in hours. In my case one of my dogs died w/in 24 hours & the other hung on for 3 days at the vet, but those 3 days were horrible. It was a mercy killing to put her down. I would never put another animal through that. So if it was made by Diamond I wouldn't risk feeding it. From what I understand, several different foods can be made at the same plant & even if the TOTW food is OK, there could be a chance of cross-contamination if a different food is made at the same plant it comes from.

OK so what do you suggest feeding?

There's so many recalls, its hard to determine what is safe these days :(

How true! There are so many on the recall list it makes it darn near impossible to choose. But if I had to suggest one, how about Merrick? As far as I know, they're not on the recall list & would be about the same type of food you mentioned.

i guess i'll stick to forking over nearly a dollar a pound for canidae ALS.

results have been great, never seen it on a recall list, and the dogs woof that ish down.

    Hey Guys!

I am currently feeding Diamond Naturals, 60+ pound food (even though my dogs are only 58 + 60 pounds, it got good ratings from the ingredients). Which Diamond foods were on the list? I did a search at google and could not find anything on the list about recalled food. I think I have like 5 more bags of it!

    Help!

SH*T me too. I just went and bought two 40lb bags today. I just wasted $50 something bucks. Can't they be sued and why aren't they being sued or publicized. Let me guess Peta is behind it? Anyone notice it's mostly always the foods that "pitbull" owners feed. Coincidence or conspiracy?

If I can manage my time better to feed raw I'll be doing that. It's a pain in the a** to feed especially for those with more than 2 dogs but it's the safest.

As far as I know, Diamond Naturals is good to go. I think the problems come with their original formulas that have corn & wheat in them.

I don't know how many dogs you have but Canidae has a great breeders program. Buy 5 get one free. Brings the price down to .75/lb for me at $34.99/40lbs.

I fed it for 6 weeks. 5 of mine did well on it but 2 had problems. Watch out for coat issues. One got a bacterial skin infection(hadn't had one on TW for 8mo) and the other's fur started falling out, licking feet, and chewing her tail. All dogs are different though.

Well, we know that a dog has to be on a feed for about 6-10 weeks to really tell how they will do. They can have all kinds of digestive trouble till their bodies conform, having said this:

I have tried many feeds, for at least 6 month intervals, to see how my dogs do. What I have found to work for me, is I mix exceed chicken and rice (which is 30/20 mix) with Beef and More. I feed two cups a day, and they do not poop a whole lot, and are fat as they need to be in winter. In summer, I cut it back to 1-1 1/2 a day, and they look very well. I used black gold for a while, and my dogs were crapping 2-3 times what they are now. The feed I am using I have to get @ sam's wholesale, exceed yellow bag is 22, and b&m is 15 something, I have a 55 gallon pickle barrel that I mix the feed in, and have been on this for a while now. I went from black gold to diamond hi energy, and the dogs were doing well on that, then two of them almost died on me when the recalls came up a while back, so I switched the feed, and went to what I am using now. I have met the folks who make the beef and more, years ago, and was impressed with that conversation.
Now, I know that on the list of healthy ingredients it may not rank high, but my dogs do phenominal on what I am using. I know some other folks that feed several dog, and have been using the exceed c&r only, and they told me they feed only 1 cup a day on it alone and that their dogs get fat on it. I mix the two simply so they get protein from chicken and beef, and I feed a bit more to satisfy them a little more. Also, I was concerned about how such a high protein feed would effect their inner organs if they stayed on it for a while, so I brought it down a little with the b&m.

As we all know, different dogs do good on different feed. I would highly suggest what I am using, and suggest you try it before you knock it. Alligator was getting 2 cups a day, and he gained more weight than he needed for the winter, so I had to cut it back to 1 1/2, and he's back to where he needs to be. He's 43# chain weight, so you can add that to your figuring.

i'll have to call them and ask about that.

the store i buy it at, is buy 9 bags of any food, get the 10th free.

doesn't have to be all at one time, they just punch a card they give you.

    thanks for the tip, though.

(on a side note, we even feed felidae to my wife's two cats, who have since had no hairball/hacking problems, runny sh*t, or anything else negative, and they have long hair and now haveEXTREMELY soft and smooth fur)
