I have seen it go well with Red Boy too, who has a dose of OFRN blood himself.

Also some Bullyson, Eli, Carver those lines might be a good idea. Bolio too.

That is a good point and unfortunate. I'm now kind of kicking myself for not getting a pup off Danger before! The only reason I did not was because I had a breeding coming up with my male to an OFRN female and we were to split the litter and I'd be keeping all pups. That never happened. Hindsight is 20/20

True of Wilder but if you have proven bulldogs that can produce then you have nothing to worry about as far as wilders lack of testing/culling is concerned. Mine has Apache Red Ty in the 5th but also some of Wilders dogs, bottom side not even too impressive. If a breeder doesn't test for a few generations it is certainly not in the best interest of maintaining gameness but it doesn't mean that genetics will throw you crap 100% of the time. If you can get it and maintain it properly then you'll have nothing to worry about in the end. -All depending on the situation and dogs involved of course. It won't work out all the time if the line is too far gone. I think the inbreeding done prior helped preserve it in some of Wilders Hemphill descendents even though he did nothing himself to preserve true dogs.

I'd like to see that too. Many I've asked have pointed me there but I'd like to see the dogs production speak for themselves and not their pedigrees.

jman you are on the money with all your post.

I have found when you heavily inbreed, you tend to get smaller animals. For example, my dog Jasmine II (Baby) only weighs about 20 lbs c.w., while her father & mother are 47 & 45 lbs c.w. respectively. All her preceding relatives weighed in the 40s too.

here's a maximillian/cotton's bullet cross (two different sources of ofr, both tracing back to similar dogs like corvino's gimp and corvino's shorty, both coming from bruce's jerry X fly of panama, as well a few other dogs off bruce's jerry)

Come on, give it a break!

If the comments about inbreeding was from some one who has done as much or more with a line of dogs then I could see the merit in their comments, which they're entitled to, but doesn't have the knowledge of what they commenting about.

If you think that is to tight family breeding you should see the stock from my main bloodline which I have pure close to 40 years and is much tighter bred.
And still producing performance. In fact has produced almost more champions and winners then any of line of OFRN in history.

Be at the UKC Premier this year, and I'll be showing for the first time at UKC, a dog from this purer line.
Ms C has already taken many ribbons at ADBA and AADR and at a year was half way to her championship.

The trick to family breeding is, CULLING YOUR DOGS!

BTW, my main OFRN bloodline isn't Hemphill, it is from Susie, Mitzie and Max and no one has it pure where it can still produce anymore.

I owned Nitro and his father and his father's sister Red Sonja.
I also owned Ida Red who Roger Scott ended up with.

I did the breeding of Nitro and Lighting Bug. This was the only line breeding ever done with her or her sister Fire Fly.
I farmed Kat out to I.P. He wanted to add what beat Bull, hog hunting, into his dogs, (Braddock 1xw in 39 min reported). So he bred Kat to him.
I have Ch. Hagler's brother around here in co-ownership. His name is Ole Man 1xw with Battle Cross Kennels, reported. Father of Lynard Skynard's champion.

I plan to have him on my yard again this summer breeding him to his neice off Ch. Hagler and to a daughter of Dual Ch. Luca, I bred.

I know of someone that has a zebo ofrn cross dog it like 13 years old he has white hair in his face its an old dog but let me tell you he still wants to go lots of fire left in him it funny to watch he's like a grumpy old men his teeth are still in good shape and a far the biggest set of teeth I have ever seen on a dog. Iron mike I didn't mean no disrespect to the kennel or the dog I mentioned or your breeding program. I just wanted to learn more about the ofrn blood cause that's one of my favorites I just wanted to find people that are breeding good ofrn dogs it hard to find any working ofrn blood on my side of the country if you know some one on the west let me know.

i love that cross..did you ever breed anything to Sam or Hawkeye?

  15. Iron Mike

    Iron Mike CH Dog

    To Hawkeye.
As you know the father of Ch. Lively 5xw died young DG into Ch. Timex.
I help breed Cajun to Yankee to produce Johnny Walker Red 4xw.
I still have many pictures of those dogs.

I also bred DeRange to Nitro.
I did a few breeding with Nitro. He was very hard to breed because his first look see was with a female when 2 Shoes had him and he was kept around two females who were in heat at the time.
Soooooooo he always was deadly to a female under him.
Afterwards I had to hold his head up so he counldn't see her.

IM.. is there any way you could post up some pics or anything about your cousins hemphill line? It would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

Red Ty? LOL I don't think so.
That dog has been dead close to 30 years.
When George had him he didn't stay at his place very long.
Gary H. (Partner with the breeder of Ch. Lively) owned Rusty Jake his litter mate brother. (in Stratton's book it is mis-spelled as Joke).

BTW I never offered Hemphill blood for $600.
I've only sold 2 pups and a year and half old prospect in the last 15 years.
And my other stock is by Private Treaty.
What ever quoted price you where given, it was a private quoted to you only.
Not for knowledge for the general public.
Prices vary, like females and males are never the same price.

Tommy Mullins' Flame and our dog Maud (btw not Maude as was her call name) were litter mate sisters.
Hemphill's Geronimo and bred to his sister Hemphill's Red Dixie to produce Robin Lambert's Flame and Grover Spearman's III Scarlet Lady and Wilder's Geronimo II.

Robin Lambert bred Flame to Geronimo II to produce Ty and Jake, NOT Wilder!!

Grover Spearman III bred Scarlet Lady to Geronimo II, NOT Wilder!!

So the dogs you see in those pedigrees are NOT Hemphill/Wilder dogs...
Only Hemphill bloodline. If fact Jacob wasn't the breeder of neither litter...

  18. Iron Mike

    Iron Mike CH Dog

No and it is still under my control..
I will say to you again, because you must been told this before or you wouldn't know about my cousin, When Babe's daughter's were being bred to Ch. Iron Bobcat as like in Ch. Gambler's pedigree, the registries released information and address to those dogs.

In turn dogs were stolen, so all UKC and ADBA papers were turned in DEAD!
Also this cause relocation by forcing him to move.
It is private and always will stay private now.

The difference between him and I, well most know I won't lose a minute sleep using my home security S & W because my Pol Pol jacket already states I have done it before......

    Great thread!

I've been seeing a few old school dogmen around here lately that are willing to share with us, post more often you guys are an asset to the forum

The first bulldog I ever knew was a littermate brother to this dog and still the best I've ever seen. He was as complete as can be: Physical speciman, perfect house dog, pretty as could be and a BULLDOG

I'll have to make his own ped sometime with a pic
