Will this affect them in any way? Is this acceptable for an APBT?

I've got a couple of them with slight under bites and one with a pretty noticable under bite......it's no big deal unless you plan on showing the dog, but even then it shouldnt effect you too much.

    Got a pic?

Didn't see an attachment, but are you sure you have an underbite or could you possibly have a reverse scissor?

Looks like you have a gap between top and bottom, but it might just be the pic. If there is no gap but the bottom rest over the top snuggly it is simply a reverse scissor which even in the show ring is still a perfectly legal bite. However a true underbite will get you a deduction. As far as overall health and well being it shouldn't make much difference. Beware it is a trait that consistently reproduces though when bred.

  7. It's pretty common in the breed actually. The ADBA allows for a slight underbite as long as it doesn't prevent a scissor bite. Mine is just like that...underbite with a correct scissor bite. If your showing in the UKC it's a more serious fault but not a disqualification.

I'm not going to breed but according to the pic it is an underbite right? there is a gap between the top and bottom... and my other dog has flush teeth... LOL

Looking at that pic it does look like an underbite. The biggest problem you will find with an underbite or sometimes a reverse scissor is poor alignment of the k-9's which is a major fault no matter what the flea biters look like. :)

I always heard that undershot dogs had hard mouth. Could be a myth but Ive seen a couple that could close it pretty good.

I brightened it up for you. Easier to see. I don't know a lot about it, but don't look that bad to me.

How about a head shot from the side.

If you look at pics of the little boy I just had, Fudge, I believe he did too. Someone tried to tell me it was boxer, but I think it was just undershot.

Wait until I get a decent pic of one we got. Those dogs have perfect teeth, he looks more like a Boston Terrier, than Boston Terriers do. LOL!

ok heres a question: would you let an underbite prevent you from breeding a dog?
