When Good Pets Turn BAd

Watching "When good pets turn Bad" on Spike TV. Out of the first 4 stories, 3 of them were about the APBT. What a shame. What a joke. This is how people form their negative preconcieved notions about APBT's.

 

The media is the devil. All dogs have it in them to turn into retards. The APBT just has the tools to make it bad when it happens. Thats why good men have been breeding the HA trait out of the breed for 100s of years. SpikeTV wont tell you that though.:rolleyes:

 

Their was a funny part in that show... When the lady said " You might as well own a crocodile" LOL that was funny as hell.... They say there are about 11,000 dog attacks a yr.. and all they show in the news are the ones that involve an apbt... Its BS..

 

The media is a menace and have always been such... Look at the publishing of Uncle Tom's Cabin, Harriet Beecher never witnessed slavery, but decided to write on it despite her lack of knowledge of true slavery( I am not saying I support it, but she really had no right to write about hear say) and this book became a factor in the start of the civil war... In the same way the news, movies or any type of media can create a bad rep for the APBT despite their lack of knowledge in the subject.

 

The biggest problem I have is with people believing that a dog will just "turn" on you.

ALL dogs give warning signs before something bad happens. They may not be obvious. They may not be verbal. In fact, most often they are subtle behavioral changes and/or mood changes that are often times dismissed by excuse after excuses (she's got a tummy-ache, he's got a cold, she's just not feeling well, he must be like this b/c of the weather change, etc.).

It all boils down to owner responsibility. Although I am defnitely NOT a fan of dogs who have tried to bite or have bitten someone needlessly before, I also believe that even the most vicious of dogs can live a life without hurting someone if that dog is the hands of a super responsible owner.

 

i watched that show last night.i agree,it is sad what the media does.in the show,one lady actually sicks her dog on the animal catcher.i also seen where a van got pulled over and a drunken idiot started a dispute with a highway patrol,window was down and dog jumped out and tried protecting his master.both cases are not the dogs fault,for we all know how loyal an apbt can be.just a couple of bad owners giving the apbt a bad name.

 

The media IS a menace. Not trying to get off subject, but the Civil War is a great example. It had NOTHING to do with slavery, but that's what we are taught through school, books, and TV. The Civil war was about re-establishing the Union, and taxing the southern states. I fly the confederate flag not because I am racist, but because I don't believe in the way we are heading as a country, as my forefathers felt in the past.

Some of the things that "Good ol' Abe" put in writing, or had speeches about would make us cringe nowadays.

I don't know if this is OT cuz we are talking about how the media portrays things and makes them seem worse than they are. And u r exactly right the civil war was about preserving the union and for example look at John Brown's raids... Despite his psychopathic attacks and the murdering of many the Northerners seemed to overlook all of the deaths and turn him into a martyr, which was also a factor in the Southern secession from the union. In the same way the media(north) tends to overlook the great deeds done by the APBT and only see the attacks that were not even commited by a confirmed breed(most news stories) and most of the time not the fault of the dogs.
