In your opinion what state do you think would best be suitable for owning an APBT?
Regarding to climate, laws, overall society acceptance, etc.

There is only 2 now where certain laws regarding fighting activity and breeding for that purpose are not a felony, I think it is Wyoming and Idaho and its still legal to view a fight there and own dogs bred to fight I believe, it was also legal in Iowa to spectate and only a misdeameanor to fight dogs until last year.... now its a felony here and a misdemeanor to be a spectator... but its still legal to own a dog bred for that purpose...yes its stupid but true last time I checked...but I do believe the 2 most law kind states are ID and WY concerning gamedogs....which I am sure is soon to change anyway law wise all over the country with publicity on the breed from superstar dumbasses like MV...and others... who will bring cause for the feds to come in with new laws soon...mark my words then the states say so wont mean shit if they threaten to take away funding if laws arent toughened up...the states will oblige guaranteed.

  3. Not USA anymore... Croatia is one of the bests places to own a bulldog... if you want a real deal...

    =)

Perhaps... in USA I like Texas.

    Greetings and Happy new year.

I don't really know. I've had the best experiences in Oklahoma and Texas. Both have BSL prohibitions, although both states have had those laws challenged in the last few years. Both are relatively warm states, although we do get winters, at least here in OK. There are a lot of shows in Texas, not so much in OK unfortunately. (There are a few ADBA clubs.) And myself personally, I have never been hassled about my dogs. Normal stuff like "we don't rent to large breeds" yeah, but when we find a place, we're able to live without being bothered. I've never had someone give me crap for taking my dogs out in public, and all my neighbors at least tolerate my dogs. Some have outright loved them.

I'm partial to FL, but that's just cause I'm a native. But the acceptance around here is getting worse by the day, and I blame it completely on the new comers to the state. But there's still parts of the state that are still the same.

Climate's awesome, don't have to worry about snow but you do have to worry about heat. For having a yard, though, probably not the best unless you've got good ways to deal with heat and ticks, not to mention the various wildlife. I've got a buddy that lives on the St John's river that lost 2 dogs to gators (the 3 dogs were litter mates and not DA with each other, having playtime around a pond on their property, and gator grabbed one and the rest jumped the gator. Nasty event...) Another time, he had to run to an e-vet from a snake bite. But I'm sure wildlife can be an issue in any rural area.

Depending on if this attempt to change the anti-bsl law in place now, the state could remain a pretty good place to own bulldogs. But we'll see what happens.

I would say maryland since there arent too many b.s.l laws, only one county I know has banned bulldogs. but it does get very cold here. I dont think hawaii has any b.s.l, atleast it didnt when I was there. plus the weather is great there.

The only state that its legal to watch is GA. I just looked at the map on CNN's site. I'd say GA. The weather is good, and there is a load of good folks who are into the breed. I'd love to move there one day. ;)

  11. New York State.

Most people in the larger cities own APBT as their pets. If you walk through the streets of Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, etc you will see a lot of APBT. You certainly won't have BSL passed while most citizens love them.

I am in Mississippi, maybe I just know a lot of people with APBT's but it seems like a lot of people here know and love the breed. I have never been bothered and all my neighbors love my dogs. It was a hard sell on some of them but I won them over, or should I say the dogs did. Weather is OK, we have to worry about the heat more than the cold. We don't have to register our dogs, just keep the rabies vac up to date. The laws about fighting or participating in are harsh though. Oh well, its better than some and not as bad as others. Thanks for the question. I am getting ready to move and this has been on my mind as far as where I may go. I'm getting some good info from this.

Well California cuz nobody here knows what a real APBT looks like. Everyone that lives around me thinks APBT's are 150 lb dogs that are a foot tall and 20 inches wide. If u brought a real APBT here nobody would know what the hell kind of dog it is

This is what Croatia customs regulations state in regards to APBTs

No import into, or temporary residence in, the Republic of Croatia shall be permitted in the case of possibly dangerous dogs of the terrier breed, of the bull terrier type, which have not been entered in the register of the International Kennel Club (FCI) (pit bull terriers) or their cross¬breeds.

    Hmmmm --- well, okay..

I think Wyoming is good because the climate is dry -- no fleas, fungus, fire ants. You can get a lot of space for less than other parts of the country. No state income tax. Winters can be delt with with proper set-up.....employment opportunities probably the set-back....
