if she has proved herself worthy of breeding and the father obvisouly is worth breeding then i would do it.

Has she proved her worth? Did her sire prove himself worth breeding?

Another thing, besides being worthy of being bred, does her sire have the desired traits that she needs more of? In other words will breeding her back to her sire strengthen the blood or bring out flaws that one or both may have? That is a huge question to ask when you do an inbreeding. You will get the strengths and the WEAKNESS (or flaws) from the line. This is another good way of find out both. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Look at your breeding program and ask yourself how this will help strengthen it.

It sounds to me as if you don't know too much about the sire. I understand that the owner says he is pure nigerino, but my opinion on that is "no papers, no pit" unless your knowledge on that particular yard is deeply ingraved. Just as lady rampage suggested, test your bitch and judge her on the qualities that are missing, and do some real searching on the web for a forsure nigerino stud that, by asking questions, posses the qualities your looking for.

Just because the someone "says" the dog is pure Nigerino, doesn't mean it's the truth. Although it may be, some people choose not to register dogs, but keep extensive records of their breebinds, the, selves. If that's the case, then you basically have to trust that the person is an honest dogman. I have a buddy that got a dog that he was "positive" of being Colby/Peterbilt. Come to find out that the dog was actually a mutt, with some greyhound in her.

Somehow the guy that bred it talked to the breeder of his and found it came from the gdam of the pup.

Has your bitch proven herself worthy of breeding, and if she has I wouldn't breed her back to her father since you dont know his breeding unless he is a game ass dog. You should ask yourself where are her weak points and her good points. Then from there find a good stud dog that has proven himself and has what your dog lacks and what your dog has and breed to it. But if your dog does not prove herself don't breed her because you dont even know whats exactly behind her and you have nothing to work with. I wouldn't worry about papers because that is BS you can have a papered dog with incorrect breedings so deal with people you trust. That's what it all comes down to in the dog world.

  15. I'm gonna be the first to tell you ----DON'T BREED HER!!! You would be taking a GREAT RISK. There are Too many question marks??????

Gain a stronger knowledge on bloodlines first & you'll see the results in your decision making. Time & understanding will guide you every step of the way. Learn from our mistakes & limit your own mistakes.
Papers don't mean a thing in the fields, but when you talk about breeding you will definately want to benefit from having a pedigree as a tool & for records.

Kinkin'wing jus be patient, learn all you can from the dog you have now. I'm sure that you would love to have some pups now, but waiting will prove to be a better move. Consider yourself 10 yrs. from now in the dog game, is that stock you still want to be breeding. Is that stock you want others to proudly say "came from you"? Are you willing to bottle feed pups if necessary? Are you ready to take 2-3 weeks off work? If it were a quality breeding I would expect you to keep at least 50% of them. Do you have homes for the rest?
Word to the wise: Consider everything before you breed your bitch.

the problem with the breed today is that people are breeding "pure nigerino" dogs when they're still in the learning phase of the game. Never worked a "pure nigerino dog", shit half the time not even sure if the dog is even a pure pit let a lone pure nigerino. Anyway, your approach should be to learn a lot more about this breed before you dare think about breeding yourself. Can you imagen the look on a old timers face if you had asked him that question. that's why there's mutt attacks today. Because an unknowledgable person had a litter of "pure nigerino" pups with no pappers and sold them in the newspaper for $150 because no one wanted to pay the origenal $300 you were asking for because you didnt know shit about its background. Think about it
