ok so i am wanting to get my dog a new toy, something that will last longer than 10 minutes.

i was hoping some of you might have some ideas or know of something that has worked for you.

Stuffed animals are too messy and get gutted fast. He likes his KONG FRISBEE and wants to chew on it, i made the mistake of letting him for a few minutes and he chewed the corner off and would of destroyed it if i didnt take it away . His regular black kong keeps his intrest randomly but not as exciting as other toys. Ropes normally get shredded. I need some tough piece of hard rubber or something..

    Anyone have any ideas ?

I don't know how well it works for APBT, because I haven't tried it yet..
But I had a Policeman who has a German Shepard as a partner tell me that he gets old Fireman hoses, and that his dog loves to play and chew on it, and it last a pretty good while...
    So it's worth a try.

I go to Wal-Mart and buy a lawnmower tire, obviously not anything that is radial (you know, with the metal bands in it). Take it home and wash it, then let em have at it. They generally last for a while. Just an idea. Costs about $12 max.

hmm, lawnmower tire, interesting, i am going to assume the rubber is about the same as a kong ?

  5. Bowling balls are great and pretty hard to destroy....

The Black kongs are are tougher than the red..and do last longer...tires work well...like stated use non radial tires.....
Some people use 3 liter plastic bottle, put the lid back on and let'em go for..some fill it half full of sand.....3 liters are harder to chew because of the size..but still get it on the cap part!

I used to have a german Shepherd that loved to chew, including the wooden legs on some outdoor furniture. He really liked playing with the heavy duty orange construction cones. They are usually really cheap if there is a lot of construction or road work going on around u.

  8. LMAO....never thought of that! Not to bad!

build urself a springpole and get some cow hides. The dog will have trouble destroying it because its hung up in the air, plus he will get some great excersize

tried getting him to use the spring pole, he is interested in playing tug with toys like a frisbee and rope, but if it isnt a human holding it , he doesnt take much intrest..

    lol on the cone thing

  11. I also say tire but try petco or petgoods for ones designed for dogs. I bought my pup one that is fairly small and has a rope inserted. I guess the rope is for me to hold while dog pulls by the tire. Tire is about 8 inch in diameter and has a 500 lb something (lol)....i want to test or pressure protection but whatever it is I understood it to be biting power protection. It cost me about $9 and at least it was specifically made for dogs.

I have never used it but look forward to getting boat rope. They are very thick and durable (assuming) and since dogs like to tear rope, why not use a super duper rope? lol

have u tried the springpole with a hide, damn near any dog will find that stinky piece of skin irresistable. Talk to boogieman he should still have some

forget all that crap,,, give the dog a deerhorn and i dare you to try and take it from him,,, all you have to do is try it and you'll see they love them more than hides,, and they last a good year on a small half rack

Make sure you cut the metal band out of the bmx tires. They are in the ring. Metal snips (yellow) work good for this.

If he likes the human holding the other end of the rope.....how about a flirt pole? Mine like the spring pole, but they REALLY like the flirt pole.

i have bought 3 petstore tires and my female has destroyed them all in less than a week and she is just over a year old, they are made from the same plastic rubber compound and will not last long.
