Too any fillers for my liking along with the price I give it two thumbs down. But that's my opinion and you asked!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. My male is actually allergic to it. He loses all his hair and gets bumps every were if he eats it.

Nutro has an Ultra formula, which isn't as good as many other foods out there, but way healthier and natural than their regular formulas. I have used it, and it's not bad.
I think it is safest to stay away from any of the big names. It was all the big names that were affected in the recall. None of the privately made food was affected. JMO.

im surprised not more people like it.
its the oldest dog food company around.
they use whole meats ( not by-products)
my dogs coats are shinier and they poop less.

Here are the ingredients to their #1 selling dog which is the lamb and rice adult

Lamb Meal, Ground Rice, Rice Flour, Rice Bran, Poultry Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Natural Flavors, Soybean Oil (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Sunflower Oil (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Whole Brown Rice, Dried Egg Product, Dried Plain Beet Pulp, Potassium Chloride, L-Lysine, Dried Kelp, Choline Chloride, Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Taurine, Ferrous Sulfate, Ascorbic Acid (source of Vitamin C), Biotin, Copper Proteinate, Niacin, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement (source of Vitamin B2), Vitamin A Supplement, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin Sulfate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of Vitamin B6), Thiamine Mononitrate (source of Vitamin B1), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (source of Vitamin K activity), Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid.

See all those different forms of rice. They do that for a reason which is to keep lamb as the main ingredient which in fact you are primarily feeding rice. Rice is rice no matter in what form. So that makes your whole meats obselete.

Nutro has been around for 80 years.

it is the #1 selling dog food in america
    They do not advertise.
they do not sell in grocery stores, walmart.

    about the recall:
menu foods is the packaging company of wet dog food for nutro products, nutro and its affiliates were unaware that menu foods were purchasing items from japan which were not in contract, since then the contract has been dropped.
    No dry food was effected.

If you added all the rice together there would still be more meat.

    THESE ARE FACTS

That doesn't mean shit!!!! Pedigree is up there right with them. Does it make it any good? Science Diet is veterinarian recommended, is that any good? NO

If you think there is more meat in that food than rice than you know nothing about dog foods and how dog food companies work.

  9. maximusflys

Whose name is on that package? It's not menu foods. Nutro is ultimately responsible for what goes in their own foods no one else.

  10. maximusflys

Bullshit they don't advertise. Go pick up any dog magazine and see if you don't see a full page ad done by nutro.

why would i? i dont work in a dog food company.
seems to me that a dog food thats been around that long without advertising cant be that bad.pedigree and science diet are advertised EVERYWHERE and nutro still out sells em.
nobody is going around telling people to buy nutro-they just do.

why so hostile? im just asking questions and sharing info i have gotten.
what do you feed your dogs? some shit you cant find anywhere?

Nobody is getting hostile you asked for an opinion and I gave it you. The food sucks and that is my opinion. It is a mediocre food at best

The food I feed can be found all around the world which is raw. Can you same the same about Nutro?

Here is a website that reviews and rates all dog foods.
    www.dogfoodanalysis.com

The only Nutro food that rates even decent is their Ultra. All the rest rate around 2 on a 1-6 scale. I used Nutro for years until I read the reviews on this site.

That's funny Nutro didn't even make the list. I also fed Nutro for years but that was before I knew anything about dog foods.

i can find it in 5 different countries.... but no i cant:)

  16. While you did ask for opinions here.....;)

Nutro is better than pedigree or Purina, but there other foods out there that are A lot better then Nutro, I used to feed my dogs Nutro too....and they good on it, but then we switched and saw that good became a WOW whata difference!

Here is a link that you can grade Nutro on:
    http://www.game-dog.com/forums/article.php?a=230
Might already be listed, but you can do it yourself to see!

I also suggest you try searching the forums a little for foods..you wil find many helpful tips and comments on all kinds of foods...
Main thing is to find something good for dog that your dog likes, that you can continue to afford and stick with it.

Fitz, I think you're missing the point and that is, IT'S what's in the dog food that matters. Not if they are heavily advertised, #1 selling, big name or whatever. You go by the ingredient list period, not by the brand.

i see there are a lot of opinions going on about how awful nutro is but no one is giving this person what they are asking for. which is a food just as good or better than nutro that he can feed his dogs at a decent price. don't just keep flying off the handle about how awful the food is help him find something better. I don't know a lot about dog food but i do get the whole dog journal and they have a food ratings list and nutro has been on their list as a pretty good dry food for a while. all that they say is better is much much more expensive. so i would like to know what dog food you all might recommend out side of all natural although i can respect that but with 14-25 dogs that might get alittle hard. not meaning to step on any toes but i prefer useful comments only. i am still learning i feed about 1/2 and 1/2 natural and dry.
