Foot Correctiveness

I'm noticing dogs with a slight "pull" or slant to one of thier feet when they stand. I keep looking at dog photos and it seems like all dogs do it but this one seems to hold hers that way a lil more but stacks pretty straight I was wondering has anyone else seen this?

do you mean the dog is easty westy( turning out)
or feet turning in?

Your links didn't work to the picture.

It usually relates to the shoulder and or chest set how the dog holds their feet and stands in the front

Does this particular dog have straight or loaded shoulders or ones that are too far forward lacking layback

It's not easty westy. I only notice it when she is standing still not when she running. I've stack her and her full sister (from different litters) and they both stack fine. but I notice her because I just got her back from her owner

That comes from a not so great front assembly IMO. I've seen easty westy dogs run and move pretty nice and you'd never know until they stand.

Of course when you stack a dog you can reposition it to lesson it but the natural stand is where I'd look for things like that in the structure. JMO

A turn out even if only on one side is still easty westy to me...

If it is slight and only on one side or on occassion maybe the dog has loose ligaments in that area, that is my only other conclusion

Talked to a couple of breeders about it. They said to raise her food. This is her only fault so I hope I can sttill champ her out. She is put together well.

 

If it is nutrition based it can be fixed if the pup is young enough

How is the shoulder set?


Every dog has flaws; so, as long as they aren't something major, I'm sure you'll do fine

 

She is 8 months and her shoulders are good looking her rear is very even as well.

 

I don't know how much raising her food bowl really will help. I've heard that in the past also but have yet to see it help.

What type of food are you feeding?

 

Increasing food intake doesn't do any good if the dog is eating a poor quality food.

Changing foods to a good quality food is what is recommended.

However, at that age I'm less inclined to think it's a nutritional issue as most dogs that have gone that long with such a condition are much worse off (most can no longer walk). From the sound of it, I'm more inclined to believe it's a congenital issue if not hereditary.

I think by "raising the food" he meant raising the bowl up higher because I've heard that as a solution to make the dog stand more on their toes and straighter, but like I said have yet to see anyone who successfully fixed the issue doing that

 

Calcium deficient as a pup if it's not a really tight bred dog. Otherwise it's just too inbred and causes problems with conformation! Learned the hard way myself bro. Take a litter of eight pups, all are going to need different types of nutrition to grow properly otherwise some pups will look good and others will look like they did not come out of that litter because they lacked something. The owner can overlook small things like this and not even realize they have neglected the ones that really needed extra care. just passing on what I have had to come to grips with myself and has made me a better owner for sure. If a man or woman will admit to their mistakes and learn they will have a superior yard one day. 95% of the dogs that don't make the grade is because the dogger failed them not the dog!!! If you don't put health first he or she will never be the dog you want anyway. It's would be the same if you bred two dogs got the pups and then shot them if your not going to make the effort to care for each in the way that fits it's needs. Just some more info from old doggers I want to pass along to other folks!!! Slick

 

Your right bro. It was time for her to come home.Her brother was doing dreat on raw and canidae but of course they wouldn't feed what I suggested and could see the difference then they up and moved and shut off the phone. I think it'll be a LONG time b4 I place another out on just a contract. I place out majority of my stuff so I know there will always be somebody wjo wants to do it there way but .... well I 'll just leave it at that. Actually raising her food as in the level her food is on is working quite well u can see her standing more straight- only time will tel though.

I feed a few different types. Her father does great on Nutro max but her full bro looked like crap on it that's when I started feed canidae- which the father doesn't respond to- I think I will swotch to all raw for a month and see how it goes.

 

What I believe your referring to is a dog being down on it's pasterns, although your pics don't work. Depending on who you ask, you'll hear diffrent opinions on what causes it. Sometimes it is a nutritional deficiency as a pup, othertimes it can be lack of sunlight (Vitamin D absorption) which is the culprit. Sometimes, it is just the result of dogs with bad conformation being bred together by an amateur breeder.

As a side note, I removed your last post, as it served 100% no purpose to this thread or dogs at all. This is not a gospel meeting, keep it off the forum.

Honestly, what is your deal? People took the time to answer your question despite everyone knowing you for what you are. People responded with either a) a nutrient deficiency such as a calcium issue or b) genetics. Are you pissed that someone suggested genetics? If you are, I strongly suggest you take a break from breeding & selling puppies & go to school to learn about genetics & nutrition both!
