As a mother of a child attending a large university, I cannot imagine the horror of losing a child like so many parents did yesterday at Virginia Tech....one day they are telling you how well they did on an exam and the next day you have to think about what to bury them in....... Please all just send a little prayer to the 30 or more students and staff that lost their lives yesterday in this horrible massacre, may they all find their peace with God. My eyes are tearing as I am just so thankful my daughter gos to another university...how sad is that.

You know, my son is only 5 and I hate to say this, but I always wonder how bad things will be by the time he is their age. Scares the hell outta me. I do feel for those families and those lost, they've been in my thoughts the last two days. RIP

Terrible tragedy. I was wondering WTF was wrong with some of the people who just watched it happen and didnt try and stop him. I heard one guy being interviewed talking about how he heard the guy re-loading while he was hiding under the desk. WTF?????

I agree. I once had a dumba.. point a loaded pistol at me & I froze slap up. The funny thing is, if he were shooting it at someone I would have sent him on the express train straight to Jesus. But this guy wasn't a threat, he was just some dinklefritz we had from some other squadron working auxillary for us. I was at the clearing barrel that day. He had just loaded his weapon & was trying to get it holstered. Since it was a new holster, it was a little tight. He couldn't get the weapon in easily & he started to get flustered. That is when he pulled his weapon back out of his holster to re-position it & pointed his 9 mm right at me. He had his finger in the trigger guard & I'm gonna tell you right now, when I was looking down that gaping black barrel I froze like a deer in headlights. Someone else grabbed his weapon from him. Had it not been for them, he could have very easily shot me. And there I was, standing there like an idigit.

So don't knock it 'til ya been there. You never know what you might do (or might not do) when the barrel's on you.

I know what I have been thru. I have looked down the barrel of a gun more than Id like to count. I just cant beleive nobody tried to stop him. He was a little nerdy weirdo that would have been easy to take down.

  10. they have had an interview this morning on CNN. and from what I have herd from is that the shooter, Well The professor thought he was a danger to the students and has prevesiouly made a complaint. This is one of those things that could have been prevented.

our youth has been raised in a society of sheeple. Waiting on some one else to do it for them. In the real life as we see it now that system doesn't work. For those like me that system of belief has always been broken and I refuse to wait or depend on others to save me.

Firstly, we don't know if he was a "little nerdy weirdo." Last I heard, stats on his weight & height have not been given out. But I did hear that he body slammed a door that had been barricaded & that he was able to open it 6 inches, so that tells me he was probably not as small or wimpy in stature as you think.

Secondly, do you think any of those kids had the same upbringing you did or live the same life you do? Hell, they are going to a college where one year's tuition probably costs as much as a house. Those kids weren't little hood rats. They've probably never even seen a gun, let alone had one pointed at them & shot at them!

Thirdly, guns are the great equalizer. For example, you are probably much bigger & stronger than I am, but if I have a gun & you don't, that levels the playing field & might make you think twice about jumping me.

Furthermore, IMO there is a time to fight your enemy & there is a time to evade your enemy so you may live to fight another day. Everyone who played the hero that day died. I doubt seeing or hearing that would urge the other students to jump up & play man of the hour.

    JMHO ...

ABK I understand what you are saying. AM I hope I did not raise my 20 year old daughter to be a sheeple, I think she is quite a leader in her circle, she is idealistic and knows how to stand up for what she believes in.....I can tell you she had never seen a real gun until I married her step father. I know my child, she is good and sweet natured, had she been in one of those class rooms, she would have just melted, as I think it would be very hard for her to fathom someone was about to walk up to her with a real gun and put a bullet in her head, I guess as a parent I have failed her somehow because she does think that way...but how do you prepare a child for that?

But who knows, maybe sometimes folks just step up and try out of the finality of knowing you are probably going to die anyway..like a soldier that throws himself over a grenade....I guess if it were my kid and they were facing a bullet anyway I would hope they would try to do something, which means they would have had to overcome their upbringing in seconds while the gunman was reloading and take a huge leap of faith....I wish everyone of those classrooms had had a couple of trained PPDs behind the professors desk.....

As fas as I see it, 99.9 of normal kids would have melted. They're KIDS for pete's sake, not commandos.

As far as your daughter MyDawgs, I think you did right by her. The only way you can sensitize her to guns, gun fire & the chance of loss of life is to train it into them. This is what the military does & it changes you for life & often not for the better. I'm sure Attila can attest to that.

punk azz was on meds for depression and wrote disturbingly violent essays that prompted the professor to advise counseling. who the F in virginia tech is his counselor and did not see this coming? waste of life not only killed 33 people but also went out like a wuss taking his own life. sorry all for ranting but dumbasses like him tarnish the asian community. my condolences to the 33 families that suffer.

As tradgic as this whole thing is, I can't stand it when people start saying this guy was a waste of life and what not. He was sick. We are all a product of our genetics and environment. Maybe I am just sensitive because I have to take medication and my half-brother is schizo-effective so I have experience with mental illness and done a lot of research on it as well.

I think it's really sad that no one prevented this. The school administration handled things horribly! They should of canceled classes and warned students and staff immediately after the first 2 murders. His counselor back in 2005 had warned the police of this guy so it's not like there wasn't clues to his bizarre behavior.

His parents should've taken notice to his unusual behavior and hospitalized him. He obviously wasn't on the right medication and probablly had an undiagnosed disorder, like schizophrenia.

No need to apologise for the rant - you are only writing what many of us are thinking, and David dumbasses like that tarnish the human race IMO

Crazy - I know some of what you are saying has merit, but dang there has to be something inside a person, or lacking from a person, regardless of an illness to do things like this. You know if he was ill and on meds, it was also his choice to discontinue them...no one can force you- ohh I don't know just seems like anymore if you had a bad childhood, or your too rich and bored, or you feel bad - it seems to be excusable when you go out and slaughter someone elses kid, or father or mother.......it isn't right
