what's your opinion about this two breeders?
    Who you prefer and why???

    Caddo.

Here is why - before I get started, let me say that WOB are very nice ppl. I have nothing against them & was even thinking of getting a dog from WOB.

But in doing my homework I have found from the ppl I talked to that WOB blood is little respected & they are considered nothing but peddlers by most respectable dog ppl. In fact, I have not met one respectable breeder who ever had anything good to say about WOB.

WOB blood is not often found on the yard of most respectable dogmen either, while Caddo blood can. That in itself says something as well.

    But this is JMHO ...

If thats what defines a bulldog to you, do as you wish. The fact that most of them can close their mouth with the best of them, doesn't mean they can take 1/2 of what they give. Hard-biting, good-looking show dogs, but most aren't BULLDOGS.

For those of you that want to place judgement, have you ever owned or worked a dog from the WOB line? I bet you haven't they are not just pretty show dogs but they are as true the breed as any other line and more so than some. If your opinion is formed on personal experience not hear say then feel free to repeat it. I am personally using one that is 1/2 WOB and although I to had heard the rumors concerning these dogs have found this animal to be nothing but the best of both worlds.

I tried to stay off of this thread due to the fact that I try to go by the live and let live policy, but you have to remember this dog game is as cut throat as it comes and it is usually best not to pass judgement on something that you have not worked or owned. There are many good dogs out there and there is always someone hating on them, so beware personal experience with any particular line is always best.

i heard often about great caddo dogs, in the game too.
But i've never, really never heard something about WOB.
I'm now in contact with WOB and Caddo, but don't know if their dogs are great and yes I have hear a lot good about WOB as people too, (in my opinion they realy nice people too) but i know nothing about their dogs...

It's a little difficult for me and i don't know who to prefer...

GA Pits - Very insightful post. Sadly, I personally know of a fellow who had a WOB dog. The dog was a young adult & nothing was wrong w/ it, it was just too big for his taste. He was trying to sell the dog at the bargan basement price of $500 & still no one would touch the dog w/ a 10 ft pole b/c it was a WOB dog.

But I will say this - good & bad come from every yard. Kay & Alton are very, very nice ppl & a dog from them may turn out well for you. Or it may not. That's a chance you take buying a dog off any yard.

But even if it turns out it may damage your reputation, as many serious dog persons look down on WOB. I even know ppl who will not buy a dog if it has WOB in the ped. :(

If you want to know the real deal, ask Mr. B what he thinks about them & Caddo. You'll get a good answer there.

Well sorry to hear your friend couldn't sell his dog, but I assure you there are many dogs out there that are great individuals from great kennels that aren't sold every day.
As far as damaging a reputation well that isn't gonna happen unless you are running sub-par dogs, as a matter of fact I know a fella that runs the OFRN game stock and was told he was everything from crazy to down right stupid, but I guarantee those folks ain't sayin' it now. ;)
Let me ask you this how much luck do you personally have with your Zebo stock since this is another line that most working kennels wouldn't touch with a 10 ft. pole. I know there are a handful that are working them having great success and I have much respect for them, but many think they are nothing more than short, stubby, "I wanna have a cool looking dog" animals and a good percentage of them are sold for just that.
This is in no way meant to be a personal attack, just another perspective on why people that don't own or feed a particular line should not listen to so many of the rumors that fly thru cyberspace. :)
IMO it is not the line of dog, but the kennel that you obtain one from (problem here is that most working kennels won't let just anyone put their hands on their stock), working kennels = working dogs, show kennels = show dogs and then there are the rare few that are working/showing kennels.

We have been very blessed to have had a good bit of success w/ our dogs. Like anything they don't all turn out, but we've had many ppl that are very satisfied with them, as are we.

I think this is b/c we are picky about what Zebo blood we use. We do not use ANY of the short, stocky stuff & made sure to get our Zebo blood from working kennels. The majority of our stock are off proven parents - i.e. Tiger is by a 5xw, Bendi is by a 1xw, Bailey is by a 1xw, etc.

WOB on the other hand, based their yard on a show dog. And again, while they are very nice ppl, I have found (in my experince anyway) that the reputation of their dogs overall just isn't that good. I was thinking about purchasing one from WOB myself. But before purchasing I asked several dogmen about them. Sadly none of them had anything good tell me about WOB dogs. :(

But I don't want to turn this into a me vs. you thing or WOB vs. non-WOB thing. The OP just asked what line would one choose if one had to choose between the two. I simply told which I would choose & why. If you like WOB blood, run it. If not, don't. We have no one to account to but ourselves.

Well I am one of them people who says no contempt prior to investigation. And although I do not have a dog off of WOB's yard, I do have a pup that is WOB on the top, tight bread. I have heard that the dogs weigh heavy, mine is a male @33# 1 year of age. He turned on @ 3 months of age, and is scared of nothing. He has been in a yard accident, jumped a very experienced dog, was put behind quick(before I could get out there to them), and though they werent goin for no 45 min, he thought he was winning. On a side note, my deighbor was out there watching it smiling ear to ear, he's the same one that looked down his nose at me asking me if I was fighting them!!, anyway, he was 8 months at the time, and the dog he jumped was 4 yrs.

I'd feed a yard full just like them. And as far as this dog hurting my reputation, that is simply crazy. I tell you what, if you listen to people talk, who have no working knowledge of things, you just may miss out on a good thing. Folks say the same about Boogieman, same about .... You get the point.

If you really want to know, and I mean know, go and get one of the dogs from their yard, and give it a whirl. If you like 'em, great, if not, great. I am just saying, you couldnt give me 10 grand for the male I have, and he is barely a year old!!

I am one of them open minded fellows. I will investigate them, even go 2 or 3 different ones, if they work out, I'll see how they do down the line, if they pan out, I can dig it.

Oh, and the male my male is off, is a sho nuff bulldog. Mine is too young to know, but all the signs are there, and like I said, they are so much there that I would not take 10 grand for him. (Just dont tell my wife!LOL She'd sign me up for a shrink!!)

As I said before, good & bad come off every yard. he might buy one from WOB & get a good dog. Or he might buy one of Caddo & get a dud. Or vice versa. It's just a chance when you take buy regardless of the kennel. But if I only had one bullet to take the shot IMO I'd go w/ Caddo. But that is just me. Others may choose differently.

Some ppl do not have the $$$ to go out & buy a dog off every line they's like to try to give it a whirl. Sometimes they have to rely on the experinces of others before they spend big money on a dog.

Also, I have noticed these great WOB dogs were crosses. What we're y'all's crossed with?

As to what my dog is crossed into, top and bottom are Eli bred. Both top and bottom are based off grand champs.

Many people will have a bad experience and run another yard down, many people are peddling pups, and run another yard down trying to get folks to buy their dogs. If you have no personal experience with these dogs, why would you run them down?

  20. ABK

    ABK Rest In Peace

I don't think I am "running them down." I am just telling the truth as it was experinced by me. I think I have already made it crystal clear that the Lenz' are very nice ppl & I have nothing whatsoever against them. I just have never heard one good thing about their dogs & if I had to choose, I would go w/ Caddo. That is all I am imparting.

And I agree some ppl will run down another to accomplish their own personal agenda. But the ppl w/ whom I spoke to were reputable dogmen. They were not gossipers, nor where they trying to sell me anything. In fact, in one man's case he would have given me any pup I wanted off his yard for free. So he had no reason to speak badly of them to make a sale.

In short, they had no motive whatsoever to tell me what they did. In fact, in most cases they only gave me their opinion on the subject b/c I asked them & of all the ppl I met who had WOB dogs, few were satisfied.

But again, that has just been my experince. Good & bad come from every yard & others may have gotten luckier than the ones I have met.
