well looks like I will be going to battle with Animal COntrol. There was an incident that some of you know about from December. I have been going back and forth with AC about it. Well now there was another incident Friday. The family has been ever vigilant in walking the dogs in our yard since. The dogs were almost always on a leash or some sort of restraint. Also my wife would look for any dogs on the property and shoo them away or wait till they left before letting our dogs out.

Well as luck would have it, there was a dog on our property when the dogs went out. My understanding is the dogs were on a flimsy restraint and the male got loose. long story short is my dog chased him out the yard, down the street and into his yard. The bad part is the witness only saw the part where the dogs were in the other yard. My daughter chased after them and got him to release the other dog fairly easily. the witness who doesnt live in the neighborhood called AC. I spoke to the dogs owner and he was cool. he knows his dog wanders off. his invisible fence has been down for 2 weeks and he knows it.

I know we need to do a better job of restraining them but WTF? cant my dogs roam their own yard in peace? I pay the big mtg payment for 3 acres, and my dogs stay there unless they get involved in a scrap. then all bets are off.

So AC tried to take the male yesterday but I already had someone pick him up. Now they are threatening to get a warrant. I dont know what that will do since the dogs arent even in the same state anymore

I want to defend my dog. I dont feel he did anything wrong by getting involved with a dog that came into MY yard. Am I crazy?

So where do i go from here? Is this going to be criminal charges? Do i need to find a criminal lawyer or a civil lawyer?

I hate to break it to you, but you are at fault if your dogs left your property unrestrained.

Your at fault for not properly restraining them. You should just take responsability, and accept whatever happens, and let it be a lesson learned.

^^lol dang so hard on him =s, but is true u shouldnt let ur dogs out to bathroom or where ever they went if u dont have a decent fenced in yard.. Even if ur wife shooed away all dogs when they got into your yard dosent mean one wouldnt wander off or your dog wouldnt see something it wanted to get... Sad story and sorry for ur loss in advance if ur male has to be put down.

I agree, there would be alot of dead dogs in my neighborhood if I didn,t have the yard fenced off for the pooches. Sometimes my boy stands at the fence and drools when he sees a passing dog. I don,t want that kind of trouble or bad publicity around here. I,d fence them in or chain them up when out,, or both . Good luck!!

Isn't this now the THIRD incident you have had with your dogs? Maybe you just shouldn't have them at all. You obviously need some type of fencing that is SECURE so these things don't keep happening. I don't care if you have to dig a six-foot trench around your yard and pour cement so they can't dig out; if you have to have fencing 12 feet high, so they can't jump over; if it costs a FORTUNE to keep your dogs in your yard-DO IT. You and your family cannot seem to control your dogs, and it's not the dogs-it's YOU. Get your act together, or let someone RESPONSIBLE have your dogs.

You're right-your dog DIDN'T do anything wrong. He was just acting like a dog. YOU are the one at fault here, and if I were AC, I'd be tired of dealing with you already. YOU allowed for a strange dog to enter your property. YOU allowed your dog to LEAVE your property. YES, your dogs should be able to roam a DESIGNATED and SECURE area of your property. You've had plenty of time to do something about this, yet you continue to make the same mistakes. I have no sympathy for you, and hopefully you have FINALLY learned your lesson.

I feel sorry for your dogs...really. Learn how to properly contain your animals or you do not deserve to have any.

Stop holding back and tell him how you really feel, lol. You are 100 % right, a dog will be a dog and you have to protect them from things like this, if not they are at the mercy of the world , or even worse Animal Control. Incodents like this can be as bad as leaving them roam loose on a hightraffic street, both could be the demise of your dog.

I knew this topic (& GAowner) sounded familar...

The perfect definition of an irresponsible owner and the very reason BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) and MSN (Mandatory Spay Neuter) is spreading across every State, City, and County in America. May God Help Us All!

There is only one practical alternative to BSL if we want to be fair to society at large. And that is for OWNERS to take responsibility for their dogs. You haven't and we all pay the price for irresponsible owners.

IMO your dogs should be seized and either re-homed or euthanized and you should be fined $1000. This sort of stuff is what gets the ball rolling for breed bans.

And no, NONE of this is the dogs fault. Its your fault. You might consider just turning the dogs over to AC and not getting any more. I pity the dogs, but I also pity any responsible Pitbull owners who live near you.

gaowner maybe you should sell your dogs cause you sound like an idiot. you have way too many accidents. and the best part is you are probably one of the people who gets on here and bashes other peoplewith crap like telling them they are irresponsible owners, but in reality you are the irresponsible one. what kind of idiot thinks an under ground fence will stop a bull dog. maybe you should consider another breed more suited for your lazy and ignorant attitude like a pug or poodle cause you have no business owning a pit

You know GAowner. I dont think it needs to be said anymore, but Imma say it anyway. You need to just get rid of your dogs. Find a good home with RESPONSIBLE owners. There is no excuse whatsoever for your dogs constantly getting loose. It's sad that they will ultimatley be punished for you and your family being irresponsible with them. And by punished I mean taken away from their home, put into a shelter, or euthed. It doesnt take a genius to properly contain a dog. There are mulitple ways to do so. Proper chain set-up, fenced in yard be it chainlink, wooden, or vinyl, or if you cannot afford those simply daily walking would be a nice idea. If you cannot afford to contain them, then you should not have gotten them and should not keep them. PERIOD.

  12. what you need is the shit slapped right out of you! i'd repeat everything everybody else said already but it's all been said the past 3 times you posted about "an incident" and you were obviously too damn dumb to listen then so why repeat it now? man fvckheads like you piss me off!

Gaowner: It does not matter one whit if the stray came on to your property or not. YOU are the pit bull owner & as such, YOU have to take special precautions & YOU will be at fault if your dog harms anyone or anything, whether it's in your yard or not. That's just part of owning a pit bull. You're not going to be able to get away w/ what Lab owners do or Golden owners do b/c YOU'RE a pit bull owner. And that's just a sad, bad fact.

The best thing you can do right now is just re-home your dogs. It is obvious that you cannot properly contain them & it would be best for all involved for your dogs to find another home right away where they will be safely contained. If not, you may find yourself in court & your dogs in the city's land fill. And by land fill, I mean DEAD, dumped there w/ the other euth'ed animals your city/county puts down.

If you re-home the dogs, I do not think there is anything AC can do to you. They may be able to give you a ticket for your dog running at large, but that's about it. But you may want to contact a lawyer in your area just in case. You can find lawyers specializing in dog law on the 'Net or just call one out of your local phone book. Most consultations are free.

    Good luck.

  14. Knowing that there was a pending issue with your dog and "incidents" you still continued with your previous ways of securing your dogs...by LEAVING them in your unfenced yard? So what if your wife is looking out the window, can do anything but look from there!

"as luck would have it"?????? It had nothing to do with luck or rather lack there of. It had to do with mismanagement of your keep.

Did you not already know there were other dogs in your vicinity?

Did you not already know "strays" come into your property?

Did you not know another "incident" would affect your current case with the AC?

NO! The bad part is in bold.

I hope your daughter is over 18 and knows how to handle feuding dogs. I would have hated to hear your daughter got bitten by the other dog. It would have been blamed on your "pit".

Well, that is HIS issue to solve. what is yours for not getting it to your head that these dogs cannot be controlled by some ridiculous "invisible" fence? I have heard of several labradors that go through the momentary pain....just imagine your dog's pain tolerance. Even worst, the dog may not want to come back into your yard because of the same thing (shock).

    You think?

Have you not gotten your answer yet? Heck NO! You have already experienced the consequences of your wants.

lmao!!!! Do you know what that means? These dogs will do their best to get involved in scraps...have you not learn this by now?

    Yes, you are crazy. lol

When we chose to own these dogs we also chose to protect animals around our dogs from OUR dogs. We must not just do the basics, we must go above and beyond. This is the minimum requirement for owning this breed. While an incident is terrible, neglect in preventing a second incident is a crime.

No, there will be no criminal charges. You need to read and understand the type of warrant. Is it a search warrant? Is it an arrest warrant? (if so, under what charges?)

Anyway, I am sure other have mentioned the above, let me read the other posts and see.

You may want to look into a non-aggressive animal. This breed is not for most people.

You should give those dogs to someone who can properly supervise them at ALL times. Whether it's a chain set up with all swivels and connections checked DAILY or a very tall fence they can not jump over or a strong leash/collar set up! One way or another to be a responsible owner of the worlds greatest breed you must do at least one of these things. PERIOD (I forget a well built pen/kennel) -

Our dogs suffer as a whole when incidents like this happen the first time... Damn... 3 times!!! What are you really thinking??? It's not AC's fault or your daughters or the your dog or the other dog! It's your fault, plain and simple...

I cannot believe that after all the shit went down the first time, you almost always take them out on a leash???!!!

You seem too thick headed to own this breed. PLEASE give the dogs to a rescue organization that can give the dogs a RESPONSIBLE home. You have said it yourself that you shouldnt own the dogs. How many more F#CKING times do your dogs need to get in a fight?

Good hell, you are only helping BSL...

This is the reason that BSL goes on and on and will go on and on. For me, I fight BSL every day and it gets very frustrating when I read stuff like this. How am I (and everyone else that fights this fight) supposed to make any leadway when there are people like you that are not responsible? It only makes it much more difficult for us. No offense to you, but please, don't get a pit bull. You don't deserve it.

you never get another pit bull again. That's where you go from here.

If you can not control your animals, you do not need to own any. Flimsy restraint is no excuse. The dogs should have a sturdy, heavy duty collar and lead/chain every time they are outside. Yes, your dogs can roam your yard. But, he did not. He entered the neighbors yard. Since you refuse to contain your dogs properly, I'd say the best thing to do would be to rehome them with a responsible person.

People like you make me sick & whoever SOLD you these damned dogs needs an ass kicking for sure. Just get rid of your dogs before AC does it for you. How many times do you have to have an "accident" with your dogs before you learn your damned lesson? Too bad the dogs are the ones that will have to pay, not their idiot owner. Human euthanasia sounds better & better every day.
