Im on my 3rd crate.. I have an 8 mos old APBT and he destroyed his past 3 crates. I cant chain him outside (or be outside at all) because I know for a fact that my neighbor will do anything to start(provoke)a fight with me so they can call the cops.. and I dont want to be at work worrying about him if he still on the chain, if he's okay etc etc. If anybody have a suggestion I will greatly appreciate it. :(

What type of crate are you using? If you're using plastic, try using something like I have in the picture below. It works great for me.

My boys are primarily house dogs and when they are outside they are in a fenced yard. However they are NEVER lefted outside unattendend.

I use chain/homemade axle set mostly, have a couple cable runs, and have4 kennel runs, and 3 pens and 2 whelping pens.

A dog box for hunting dogs is pretty strong, and most have a minimum of 2 spaces.

Mine are in my house and only go out when I am with them.

Caught me slippin- currently just the house and supervised exercise/poop&pee time in our 8 foot privacy fenced in yard. Word to the wise: six inch nails gunned into 4x4x8 posts and privacy panels set in concrete ain't enough. Dante has knocked a panel loose twice just doing his wall climbs he likes to do. If we hadn't been there he would have knocked it loose enough to get out. We can't leave them unsupervised for a minute, and I would appreciate anyone steering me in the right direction for proper chain set up. I should have done this months ago. :o

On this forum, there should be 0%, as I see it- unless some misunderstood and meant they have one APBT which runs loose in their home...which still isn't exactly safe IMO. ANY who allow their APBT to run loose outside is acting shamefully on behalf of the breed. That's putting it sugary sweetly.

Ceecee, I've had similar kennels, and had problems with one dog in particular breaking them as well. Just lowered her head, and rammed into it full steam until the rods holding it shut bent enough to come out of their slots and WAHLAH! Sometimes I'd put her in a brand new kennel, lock her in a room for 5 minutes, come back, and she's sitting on the bed lookin at me proud of what her lug-head had accomplished.

Same thing just happened to me. I went to go walk him opened the door and he was chillen on the couch. Looking so happy like he just accomplised something and needed a treat. He completely destroyed that same crate. I bought a plastic one with the metal door. I talked to a few ppl and they said they never had problems with them.

I can tell you from experience the wal mart crate is not well made and my dog mangled it like it was nothing. I had to buy a midwest crate for a great dane (not because of size but wire guage) that seems to be the only one she has not mangled and escaped from. Wal mart crate last maybe 10 min if that. lol

one of my dogs tears through a crate any time he wants to basically. what i have done and it helps is ratchet strap the door down on the plastic crates. now he has got out of it before but it sure slowed him down. the front gate is so tore up now its ridiculous but the ratchet strap helps he has tore it once with the two teeth he has left i cant let him alone in it while i am gone so he gets to go outside when i leave home. on a chain of course.

My new pup runs free until he decides when he wants to start chewing on the fence and digging then he'll meet the chain.
