Fences Ordered for Goat & Pit Bull

Ok, normally I would not post nor allow a post that is negative towards "pit bulls", but I got a laugh out of who the pit bull's partner in crime is......

Fences ordered in Middleboro for goat, pit bull

By Eileen Reece, Enterprise correspondent
The owner of a Middleboro day care complained to selectmen that a neighbor's pit bull and goat have harassed the children in her day care and she fears for their safety.

Heather Fuller, 185 Thompson St., issued three complaints since August against her neighbor Lisa Bellefeille, 187 Thompson St. concerning her 55-60 pound pit bull/boxer mix and a goat.

Animal Control Officer Jayson Tracy said the dog is unlicensed and has been under a permanent restraining order since July 2004.

“This is a dangerous dog,” said Tracy.

“Goats can be belligerent,” said Tracy and “definitely a hazard to young children in a day care.”

Tracy noted goats could rear you and charge with their horns.

The first complaint on Aug. 21 stated the goat was loose and scaring children and attempting to enter the Fuller's vehicle. The animal control officer noted this was a common occurrence.

The second and third complaint on Sept. 6 and Oct. 28 stated the pit bull was in the Fuller's yard and barking and being aggressive.

Fuller said she has a section partitioned off for her day care but the goat has attacked the fence.

According to Tracy, Bellefeille, who did not attend the hearing, said the goat is either on a cable run or in a pen, however he noticed many holes and loose boards in the pen.

“I am really irritated because she is running a day care there,” said Selectman Adam M. Bond who asked Tracy what recourse selectmen have.

Tracy said there is no fine or enforcement mechanism for violating the restraining order.

He said the next recourse is to ask Bellefeille to remove her animals.

“Middleboro is a rural community and as we grow we will deal with more of these issues,” said selectmen Chairman Wayne C. Perkins.

Tracy recommended each of the animals be placed in their own chain-link enclosure.

Selectmen voted to order Bellefeille to set up three chain-link enclosures within 30 days and in the meantime to restrain her animals. Selectmen also voted to file a court complaint against Bellefeille for having an unlicensed animal.

Selectmen also voted to ask Bellefeille to appear before them in 30 days to see what steps were taken to comply with the order.

Selectmen also heard a barking dog complaint filed by Dilia Lestinho, 14 East Main St., against a dog owned by Brenda Millette, 16 East Main St. Selectmen voted to order Millette to purchase a barking collar for the animal to be worn when inside and outside.

What got me in addition to the fact that the dog is NOT a "pit bull", but rather a mixed breed, is this:

LOL The neighbors at my parents' house have a big dog and some pigs. One pig used to get out of the fence all of the time. Well, since the pig was used to big dogs he would walk right up to our fence. My parents' dogs hated it. We even caught the pig with his back two feet on the ground, reared up with his front two feet on the hood of our car. One time I went out there and fussed at him a little. And he grunted and fussed at me right back. LOL The neighbors finally got their fence fixed and we haven't had any problems since.

We had an anglo nubian goat weighed in at 175lbs. We found him in the deep woods when he was a baby. Couldn't find his owner so we had him neutered and kept him. Came as a shock when he just kept growing until he was huge. Goat are very stubborn and when they want something they will just rear up and attack you to get it. I use to carry a hammer when feeding the horses to keep him from grabbing the feed bucket out of my hand. I would turn the hammer sideways and hit him on the nobs on his head. His breed didn't have horns. He always acted like it was just playing. I was fighting for the horses right to eat.
He was our attack and watch goat, no stranger would go in the barns and if they did he would't let them out. Many Sundays when we got back from a horse show we would find someone trapped in the barn waiting for someone to save them.

Why in the heck would you have to lisence an animal? Do you have to get emision/safety checks every year or 2? Are plates and stickers included with the dog lisence? Do cats require an additional lisence and opperator testing?

Gee whiz, I wouldnt want to break a law I knew they had no way of enforcing either! Clear cut example of passing "feel-good" laws with absolutely no real use, just to make the citizens feel safer for whatever reason. I do however, find it absolutely HIL-AR-I-OUS that a goat is causing all this ruckus.

I think getting lisence on an animal is the stupidist shit I have ever heard of. Shoud I have lisence for trees too? my chickens, rabbit, goats, sheep. that is retarded. them city shits find some of the stupidist shit to complain about. Move the day care out of the country. Next thing you know we will have to paper deer and squirrels that get on our land. I think that day care bitch should be slapped for being a retarded bitch. Wasting tax dollars bitching about dogs and goats. She needs to get off her fat ass and put fences around her day care operation. I wonder if her structure is up to fire code and health and welfare laws of that state. I say file on her and shut that bitch up. I have a day care across the road from me and they have a fence around their deal and it is clean. Not a house but a real day care. they bring the kids over to play with the baby lambs, pups, chicks and my rabbit. I have never had such bull shit problems from people. Well except for ole Holland at the end of the road but my ball bat shut that asshole up. I say if you have a problem with some one deal with it yourself or shut the hell up. No one likes a rat fink.

I'm not sure what kind of "license" they are talking about, but my guess is the rabies license. When your dog is vaccinated for the rabies vaccine here, your name, address, & dog's name are then sent to the local AC in the event your dog is ever picked up as a stray & has the rabies tag on the collar--this way they can identify your dog. It also serves as a tool to help when an animal bites someone. This way they know that the dog is not at risk for having the rabies virus. Just my 2 cents.

All my dogs have their rabies shots. the tags are under my kennel name. However the number goes to my vet and my kennel. I am Licensed to give shots partly due to my Kennel registration and other because I am a bio Chemist and work with a few Vets.

Not long ago I used Gretchen to run the goats back into the pasture. Well the young billy chose to butt her head on. Gretchen killed that one and another for good measure and was got to another before I could stop her. The third and fourth lived but the first two became dog food for the kennel that week. She got a sheep too in the process. I don't think she likes them living now. lol a few weeks ago she took down a deer for me. I love these dogs.

Where I live our dogs are supposed to have either a county or city license. This is seperate from the rabies license. Basically, you're just paying the county or city to own a dog. It's stupid to me.
