i take my boy capo coon huntin every wed(garbage night). the first time he came across one i loosed him on it and he ran up to sniff its rear like it was a pup, to which that little varmit barked like crazy lunging at my 65 lb(conditioned) big brindle male. bad night for the coon but a great leaning experience for capo,, but be careful racoons are tough critters , while cleaning up an overrun cemetery we came across one foaming at the mouth, i shot it with a .22Lr eleven times in the body before the last and final shot fell on his head .....

Shhh... Don't tell anyone, but Baxter is a coon and possum killer... but ya'll are right that them coon's are nasty. His stories with them are pretty interesting, but does it make me a bad momma because I don't get upset that he'll kill them? I ain't crazy about them, so it doesn't bother me when he kills them.

I love coon on the grill. Served up with some corn bread, beans and collard greens I wouldn't have called my dog off that bastard till the coon was dead or till I was ready to shoot it dead. Some fried taters would be good too. Man I can't wait to go hunting. Hey Purplepig. you game for a hog hunt in south east Arkansas this Saturday?

So here's an update, I took the dog back to the field last night and let him go straight for the coon, and ofcourse the thing was already dead but he got a kick out of ragging the hell out of it for a few minutes. We actually continued our usual walk through the field with the big @$$ coon in my dogs mouth, LOL, i wish i had the camera with me. Anyway after a while he drops it and we keep walking through this field that was freshly cut tall grass and he runs right up to a nice size groundhog hole and starts growling and digging like crazy. Well to make a long story short the groundhog bolts out of one of the escape holes and my dog is all over it, so after a few death shakes and some loud @$$ screamin from the groundhog its all over. LOL so i got myself a full blown hunting dog people, shoot and i've been teaching him to flush birds too, the hell with a pointer or a retriever i got a dog that will flush, kill and retrieve all in one, ONLY AN APBT

oh yea louis is about 50-55 lbs of straigh muscle and has about a 25 ft. chain. I was feeding and me and my brother came to his spot and there the thing was dead and on display. Sh*t his mother snapped a water moccasin in half right in front of my eyes. Damndest thing i have ever seen. the snake struck at her she jumped to the side and struck back. The front 2/3 of the snake slithered off into some rocks on the bank of our pond and the tail was just flopping on the ground. I took her away from it but the snake did NOT bite her.

Its natures way, nobody should scold an animal for doing what it naturally wants to do!

I never actually witnessed it for my self, but I was headed down to the place where I keep my dog, it was late in the evening(almost dark). When I arrived there I went to greet him and I saw (2) dead oppossums laying near where I keep his food and water bowls. Must of been a mother and baby, because one was pretty good size and the other was kinda small. Both of them were tore up bad, I mean very bad. I checked my dog over, he had a few small scratches on him, none were bleeding or even looked like they ever really did bleed. Oh well I just patted him on the head said goodboy and removed the dead oppossums.

I remember one night I woke up to screaming and barking in my backyard. At first I thought it was just some cats going at it and they were just making my dogs go crazy, come to find out it was my dogs tearing apart a HUGE possum, and I MEAN HUGE! And when I say tearing apart i mean limb from limb!!! Ya well anyways, my dogs all had a nice midnight snack that night. The most beat-up one at the time was Biff, my big mutt, but they were still only little scratches. Good experience for my doggies tho...:D

I remember when my Smokey and Peaches played tug of war with a cat. It was one of the most sickest things that I have ever seen before in my life

  14. We have some raccoons living in one of our barns and my dog has been going crazy these last few days barking and digging at the walls. I searched for a thread about raccoons and found this one. I was worried that when she finally gets a hold of one that she would get hurt but it sounds like she would be ok judging by what people are saying here. She is a big girl (49 - 50lbs) so hopefully she will be able to deal with the creature without getting hurt. She wants those coons so bad lol

i have a GSD that has caught an opossum, she tore its throat out and left it in the driveway, not one mark either, very surprising too cause when i came out, babies were popping out from under the house. so yeah its possible.. though my GSD has alot more fur on her.
